Sy smokes a 96 Corvette

I was going back home after a Sunday ride in the Sy and a 96 Corvette pulls up in the lane next to me, the guy driving is in a suit and has one of those silly looking blue tooth phone thingy's on his ear and is just talikng away when I rev up my engine and get his attention  He just kinda glances over and then rolls his eyes and revs up his engine also. I see the light is about to change and I boosted up just a little bit ;) and when the light changed I launched out in front of him so damn fast he didn't know what hit him. I stayed in it 'till about 100 and then slowed down to let him catch up when he then passed me at what had to be 120 or so...I just waved to him as he blew by and thought to myself that he must have had no Idea what my truck was and probably was asking the person on the phone " what in hell is a Syclone?" I know that he didn't really try to hard off the line because he probably just assumed it was old S-10, but man was he trying to catch up after I launched...lol. That's probably one of the neatest things about these trucks I've discovered is when I'm out cruising around, most people have no clue what they are and assume it's just a S-10 or Sonoma 4 banger :rotf:

A couple of times now while out cruising in the ty, someone will pull up next to me at a red light and say something to the effect of

"Hey, cool truck..........I know what those are."

Both times when the guys said it, it was like they wanted some kind of recognition for being in the "I know what the hell a typhoon is club." It just makes me chuckle at them and then I look like a dick. Nice kill, though.

Nice kill Dallas!

The whole don't know what it is thing is kind of a love/hate thing with me.. I always seem to get approached by the younger guys that seem to think the truck is a old extreme :) or the older guys that wonder why I put a ground effects kit on a 4x4 and lowered it but I do like I can take the truck anywhere and not have to worry too much about it being broken into or stolen like my gn

I kinda like the lack of attention...I had a bright red VR-4 before I bought the Sy that could be seen a mile away. I always had someone wanting to race when I took it out, which was fun but can get you in trouble if you can't resist the temptation of a stoplight challenge every 5 min...which I couldn't most of the time  Younger guys don't really know what it is and I enjoy explaining the little bit of what I know about them. I have the only one town ( at least I've not seen another one on the road ) and thats pretty cool

I love these types of kills

I'm in the same boat boosted cause I like not having the attention from the cops but every now and then I wish it was a little more of a known vehicle like a chevelle where everyone knows what it is. Oh well.

Don't VR-4s weigh a freaking ton? I like the style of them but always liked the Supra or the 300ZX more. RX7s are sex on wheels though!!

that and they had tons of issues with.. I want to say the tranys but can't remember right.. also the parts are expensive and hard to come by like our shitboxes :)

Yes, they are heavy cars...about somewhere around 4300lbs. that never really bothered me because with a few mods the car hauled it's fat ass quite well :) As far as the tranny goes on the VR-4 they had an issue with the syncro's going bad, but once those are replaced/upgraded and the proper weight fluid is put in they were absolutely GREAT transmissions...very, tough. Some guys running 700+H.P. with the stock transmission with no problems( Ok, at least that's what they say ;) ). The 1994 models and up had forged internals from the factory as well. Getting parts for the VR-4 was never a problem for me personally or anyone else that I knew that owned one either, they have a large and expierienced group of owners over at 3SI.org that can help you out with problems or get you any part you may need ( Just like the guys here  ) Prices were not bad on most anything I had to replace on it but finding someone to work on them that knew what in the hell they were doing was the real bitch and when you did then that's where the real $$ was spent  but I must say that It is (so far) without a doubt the funnest car I have ever driven, no direspect to the Sy ;) but it's a totally different driving expierience! AWS is awesome in the twisty's. I WILL be owning another one someday for sure but a clean 1995 is what I'm hopin' for.

My brother has a '92 Stealth. He had the DR800's on the car and just switched to the DR900's. Matt Monay from Dynamic Racing said his car should run low 11's or high 10's on pump gas with those turbo's and his arch 2 fuel system. His car is a monster. He has had tranny problems several times!

Good kill on the Vette!

That sounds like a nice one  Does he have the stock internals in the engine?
As far as the tranny goes, I wonder if he has ever heard of this place....http://www.jackstransmissions.com/index.php?osCsid=7a94ddf37c351cd8ddc484adbb895780

Heard alot of good things about them when I was into the VR-4 thing.
