Re: sy motor conversion on 02 blazer

if the 02 is mass air.. why couldn't you do an aftermarket turbo setup on it, and save a whole lot of hassle, time and money? Or would it.. I am trying to figure this out for my bravada project.. I am thinking about adding an aftermarket turbo, and letting the torsions down a little with some lowering leafs in the rear and some 20's but i don't know enough to know if i am missing something..

Re: sy motor conversion on 02 blazer

The problem with an '02 is fuel system. Cant replace the injectors, which means you are fuel limited to a certain hp level (about 300, give or take) at which point you're out of fuel. You can do some things to get around that (additional injectors, cranking up the fuel pressure, etc) but these are all very poor solutions to the problem and sooner or later will cost you a motor.

The Sy/Ty intake system uses replaceable injectors, which means you can upgrade them to larger units to support more power. I'm not sure that the earlier 4.3 motors had replaceable injectors in the EFI system or not. I know some were TBI, which wouldn't be all that good. I thought there was a MPFI available, but not sure about the configuration.

And if these guys seem a little "short" its because this kind of question probably gets asked by a newbie about once a week. And for some strange reason, people seem to think Sy / Ty parts are cheap and plentiful. They were limited production run vehicles. A complete intake manifold probably goes for $1000+ (both upper and lower halves).
