Sy going to the scrapyard, any suggestions? (pics)

So, I'm tearing everything I can out of my donor Sy before it goes off to the junk yard. I've got pretty much everything Sy-specific off of it. I just thought I'd shoot some pics of it and see if anyone knows of anything else I should take off before it goes away.

Also, let me know if there's anything anyone sees that they want. Either shoot me a pm with an offer or reply here and we'll work out something.

keep the fuel lines if they are in good shape.

Keep the steering wheel, horn button, door cladding buttons and the bed (if it is not rusted). Other than that, I think you milked it pretty clean :).

I could use the porkchops that help adjust the ride hight via the torrison bars.

Consider it done if they're relatively easy to remove. I don't know what's involved in removing them, but I'll take a look.

how much for the VIN plate?

Not sure I want to go to jail. I'd keep the VIN plate too if I wasn't aware of how illegal it is to remove them.

the front abs sensors are worth $100 each. shocks look good. so do the cables that went to the shifter. all those body mounts are good for cladding.

front diff is also a keeper too.

front torsion bars and rear springs are sy specific. they will be worth $$$ one day.

it's not illegal to remove them, but there is some legal issues involved in putting them back on another vehicle. Some wrecker won't take a vehicle if there's no vin plate on them.

I was reading a email my district GM manager sent me about a couple of guys getting keys made from a gm parts guy and swapping the vin tags. It said possesion of the rivets was a couple years jail time

Yeah these guys were in with a gm parts guy who can cut keys to any gm VIN and the guys were stealing the cars and changing the vin plates and the parts manager who was related to some cop saw a book with some familier VIN in it and that is how it went down

For awhile now you have had to have ID and proof of ownership to get a key cut and on the newer cars the keys have to be programed it was one of those emails just giving every one a heads up on not ID people for keys

How much for you to cut out a section of the transmission hump around the shifter cable hole ? The bigger the piece the better . Theres a hole in my ty's hump from when it had the 5 speed . Thank you .

How big of a piece do you want? I've got a sawzall that'll make short work of that area. I'll get in and take a pic and you can outline what you want and I'll cut it out (within reason). $50 plus shipping sound good?

UPDATE...

- Front diff and shocks are out and spoken for...

- Passenger door is pending. I threw the driver door away because I'm an idiot. :)

- Rear exhaust hanger is spoken for, and pending removal.

- Cab section around shifter area is spoken for.

- Steering wheel is pending, pics will be taken soon with update.

I'm trying to figure out how to take out the rear diff, torsion bars, and rear leafs while maintaining the truck's ability to roll. Maybe I'll just weld some casters on the back part of the frame. :)

John W. - What do you mean by the ABS sensors? Do you mean the sensors with the gear-looking pickup apparatus on the front wheels? That's an odd part to be worth the $$$.

Please be patient, as I've received a lot of response to this, and I want to make sure everything that people want/need gets taken care of before it goes to SyTy heaven... :)

why are you scrapping a perfectly good sy???

If anyone wants to come pick up what remains of the truck, they're more than welcome. At the state that it's in, however, I think that the money it would take to make it a respectable Sy again greatly outweighs what it would cost to buy a mint stock truck. The trucks simply aren't rare enough to warrant "rescuing" it.

Plus, one less Sy means that my other Syclone (as well as everyone else's) will increase in value... :D
