Re: SY 2373 Ramblings

I got a new Optima red top battery yesterday. Turns out that my old one was bad. I seems to be running very good. I will try and take it to the track in the next few weeks and see if the changes make any difference.

That truck is so cool. You really should paint it. One day my truck is gonna be fast like that.:tup::tup:

Re: SY 2373 Ramblings

Today I ordered the Holley HP setup for my truck. I am buying it from Alex at Steve Morris Engines, because Alex has been a great help to me over the years tuning my truck. I am not running an electronic trans, and don't plan to anytime soon. I can live with the reduced inputs and outputs, as I will be leaving my manual boost controller in, and leaving my Alkycontrol meth kit as is. The price was $1670 out the door, delivered. I am looking foward to being able to make changes to my truck (boost, maybe cam, etc.), without having to hassle Alex about changing my tune in Code 59. Code 59 has served me well up to this point, but I am looking for modern computing speed and self learning tuning.

Awesome! Good to hear. I have been threatening to go that route, the price is quite fair! Look forward to seeing how much easier it is and how well the self tuning learns your truck.

I installed this recently, along with a new mono amp for the sub. It fits really good behind the passenger seat, and it sounds great with lots of bass. It is a 12" in a truck stealth box. The cost was about $330 for the sub and enclosure.

Nice I was looking at a new sub the other day, always such a pain to find one that fits well, good to see!

I also installed a new Kenwood 500W mono amp for the new sub (it is on the left in the picture). The previous owner had made this carpet covered board to mount the stereo components to, and it hides them very well.

Re: SY 2373 Ramblings

My buddy up the road got a wild hair yesterday morning and decided to put a 6-71 blower on his 66 Chevy II. The blower has been laying around his shop for years. He should have done this a long time ago. Old school cool. Enjoy.

Re: SY 2373 Ramblings

After years of fighting overheating with electric fans, A/C, traffic lights, and a front mount intercooler, I decided to remove the electric fan setup and go with mechanical fan. I went to pick and pull and got a shroud off of an LB4 blazer (my truck had an electric fan on it when I bought it), then bought a new fan clutch and second gen s-10/blazer fan. The difference between the mechanical fan and electric was apparent as soon as I drove the truck. The mechanical fan probably pulls about three time the air that the Taurus fan that I had on the truck. No more problems in traffic with the A/C on. It does pull the engine down when the thermal clutch kicks in, but the little amount of lost power when the engine is hot is worth it to me.

The North Florida truck count is slowly creeping up. Three trucks here last night, including my own. One of the trucks was a new Ty owner from Tallahassee. His truck looks just like DaveP's. Very clean Ty with 160k:

I went to pick and pull yesterday and got this nice rear sway bar off of a 1998 four door blazer. I have already ordered the brackets to install it. I also ordered an adjustable rear brake proportioning valve. Lessons learned from autocross at Shindig.

Re: SY 2373 Ramblings

Wonder how much different your Cam specs are to mine with similar build..

I think since we both paid for our cams, I would be happy to share my specs with you. I don't think the guys at SM would like us making them public, however. PM me if you want to see the specs. This is is not top secret stuff, but best to respect the folks we do business with.
