I've had this truck for a while and now that I've graduated college I have the means to do it right. The truck has never really ran right and while taking it apart we have seen why this may be, whoever went through the engine before I ever got it did very crappy work. The rebuild so far consists of:
Wiseco Pistons (30 over)
Cam from Steve Morris Engines
Eagle H beam rods
Upgraded stock turbo from sportmachines
60lb injectors and chip from Turbo Tweak
RPM 3" exhaust
Sportmachines stock coilovers
Belltech drop leafs
Lots of other stuff but those are the main points.
My goals are to set it up for autocross occasional drag racing and pretty much be a DD when I want to drive it. Here is a good picture of it before the tear down was started.
I am picking up my block from the shop tomorrow and have a few questions having never had an undertaking like this before.
First, what roller rockers should I be looking into? The machinist said to get adjustable and I had planned on a 1.5 ratio.
Second, I'm going to have the transmission gone through to make sure it will handle the additional power. Will I need a new torque converter for this setup?
Lastly, I know to tell the transmission shop not to touch the valve bodies of the trans, what else should I be informing him of in regards to it?
