"The Crow" and "Murder Nova" are both demented money cars.
Makes everyone else on the "list" seem like blue collar "affordable" cars. LOL
Even Farm Truck went off the deep end last season.
Now it has a double throwndown, big inch, big $$$ nitrous engine.
But that's standard fare in all forms of heads-up/"street" racing.
Pretty much a sport of "he who can spend the most wins".
Larry Larson's S10 is phenomenal.
Larry has had a chassis shop in southwest MO for years so he has that covered.
That truck is cutting edge everywhere.
You all read the article in Hot Rod (or Car Craft?) telling how much work is required when he gets to a track to convert from "street" to race?
Oh my.....it's amazing. Remove this, replace with ultra-light that........repeat.

The engine? Or the whole truck. You can go to pro line racings website and see how much the engines are. Im sure his was north of 50k. So figure that truck if you walked into his shop and asked him to duplicate it....im guessing 125- 150k wouldn't be out of touch for what it might cost to duplicate.

I'm thinking $200,000+ easily?

So.......
We've basically established that not only do you need a mountain of cash to be successful, you need limitless free time for testing, tuning, breaking, repairing, upgrading, travel and it's expenses, etc., etc..
Not a "sport" for normal blue collar, 40 hour week folks.

Pretty wild. But with the advances in cnc machines and the fact that your not talking about a massive amount of material, can some tell me why billet pistons are so much more expensive than forged? I would think that forged Pistons would have more work involved?

IMO this show just shows us the superiority of a boosted engine VS a big motor on spray. If my airpump can push more air then your stupid gay shit,I win. Every NA big block on spray will always be drove around on the top end by a big ass turbo motor.It's not rocket surgery.

We design and build a lot of engines for these classes. Unlimited class engines (3,000-4,500+hp) start at 75,000 for a non-dyno tuned engine combo. We build them in the 85-150k range as well. It is as much the engine as it is from the flywheel-back. We know many of these guys, as well as their support structure. There are major amounts of politics involved....if we ever had a number of beers...the stories I could tell...
We have a few pretty *unique* combinations that will be hitting the public media in the coming days and weeks. Should be interesting!

Watching "street racing" has gotten positively addictive since turbos have taken over.
I've been into 2.2 Dodge, Buick T-Type Regal, air-cooled VW draw-through carbureted (caveman but it works!) boost, now my Syclone and LOVE to see turbos finally taking over! :tup:
But to be competitive, you'd have to turn life off and put your heart and soul into a combination.
Reminds me of the acronym of BOAT, all the guys at work who are boat crazy and where their addiction eventually led them: Bust Out Another Thousand.
A single man's endeavor for sure.
Because the wife would quickly abandon ship (divorce) and take any money you'd have for the pursuit! :rotf:
