Re: Stock Turbo Truck runs 12.49@109
Getting a fair amount of people asking "WHAT IS TUNING!" via pm's. Figured maybe i can answer some of them for everybody.
Here is a copy of a PM I just sent, that gives high level detail.
"Tuning is everything about the truck. Of course datamaster or scan tool, watching #'s and figuring out what is going on is what most consider tuning. There is so much more though.
We have looked at everything, from how much boost can we launch with, how can we launch with more, how much are tires spinning, will limiting front end help, exhaust flow, what about tranny shifting, can we shift it sooner, later leave in OD, leave in D through traps, intercooler temps, alky injection, when to spray how much, list goes on.
My best advice is to set yourself a goal you want with the truck, and one your bank account can afford. We got this truck in the high 12's fairly easy, after that it has gotten more expensive, with rear end blowing up, 2nd tranny blew last week, etc. You want to play, you gotta pay comes into effect so be ready if that is what you want to do.
It also isn't something that happens overnight, we have about a year and a half of "tuning" now. Granted we don't work on it 5 days a week, but we look at things, talk about them, discuss, think about it, then make changes.
Having a goal in mind and sticking to it, helps.
If someone wanted to go low 12's, I probably wouldn't suggest this exact route, unless you wanted to do something few have done. There are easier ways. Just don't get in the loop I got in before, new parts and bigger stuff is not always the answer to going faster, usually there is a lot of time left is most combinations with proper tuning."
I think a lot of people want a step by step on how to do something like this. It just isn't that easy, every truck is different.
I had 3 trucks over yesterday, all with 50# injectors, not a single one liked the same chips.
