JS Manufacturing said:Typically porting, gasket matched etc have been allowed. Wheel upgrade would then make it not a stock turbo anymore though.

Is a external wastegate allowed?
It's just a six said:There are too many loop holes in the Sy/Ty "stock turbo" class rules,, you can do a lot of mods & still run in the stock turbo class. :2cents:
It's just a six said:You can use any kind of fuel.
Lightweight wheels ,brakes, driveshaft,& so-on
Special valve job to get peak flow numbers.
How about stock acid dipped cylinder heads? No porting there?
Do not even need an exhaust system, a dump pipe is fine.Port or extrude hone your exhaust manifolds.
Transbrake.
Clamp your rear leaf springs.(not a traction device)
Front end limiters.
Heads can have bigger vlaves.
Easy to build a "cheater engine" Cheater turbo, clip the turbine wheel for more top end, no one checks. No tear downs = nothing to worry about.
This list can go on & on!!!!
Just off the top of my head.
3500lbs w/driver? sounds a little gutted??? Do they even weigh your vehicle @ KC????
Frank said:We do have some options. 3" downpipe, open exhaust, bigger fuel injectors, external wg appear to be OK... What else?

Agree with you regarding the low budget. I tend to reuse parts that came off of my Ty (which has probably been in just about all of the classes at one time or another). Most likely (if my 100k stock turbo is still in OK shape) will try to fix the stock wg flapper or install a used external wg that I have.dgoodhue said:IMO The biggest gains in the stock turbo class are going to be from running more boost, Alky Injection, 3" Downpipe and Custom Tuning. Other things that you can do is better boost control, removal of weight (spare tire, jack, ABS, smaller battery), working on the launch (front end limiter, stickier tires), & higher RPM stall converter. Besides a few other support mods (fuel pump, ic pump, adjust fuel pressure regulator etc.) everything else that is 'legal' is going to be diminishing returns, you be better off putting you money towards a larger turbo and compete is Super Stock Class.
IMO The intent of the stock turbo class racing is a competitive low budget racing.
SyTyJedi said:If you want to be competitive, you have to step it up. The bar has been raised. Nothing is stopping anyone from taking the title this year.
It's not against the rules to be innovative and find ways to make power within the class.
Just an observant point of view.
