need a little help . installed an stg , set base fuel pressure to 52 lbs.,180 stat. runs good but sets too rich code.scanner shows it is too rich at idle.and 02 it is not switching.if i hold the engine at 1500 rpm. the 02 starts working properly. i think the 02 is ok cause the engine was perfect before i did the stg.

Re: stg chip question too rich

they are stock inj . another prob just happened now. put your foot into it and starts off good but falls on its face .just like it went too lean cause i do hear a bit of det before it happens. doesn,t stall or anything just builds about 7 psi then flattens.i am going to check fuel filter. this truck was a restore and it sat 2 years with just a little gas in it. besides this truck runs fine. i put 25 liters of hi test in it before this.

Re: stg chip question too rich

you need to get a scan tool. these trucks are rockets, but it also need the science to make em fly.

i got 2 advices for you:

get a scantool like datamaster..

keeep on trying. rebuild, get datamaster

Yep, get a laptop and scan it. Does it run good on a stock chip?

hey guys found the problems. fuel filter clogged. and 2nd it had a new exhaust on it when i bought it.the mufler was way way too restrictive.yanked it off. quick run now it tears your face off. still getting a little det coming into boost. had a quick look at base timing and it is 2 deg pos.does evey one run them at 0.this truck hasn't hit the road yet so when i get it out i want everthing right. also every i have it out it has a scanner on it. . thks guys

lower the fuel pressure to 43psi and check you might have a lazy o2 sensor...

Base FP set with vacuum line off the regulator? Checking the timing with brown wire disconnected? It should be set at 0. If you hear detonation STOP laying into it before you do some serious damge. Get a scantool or DataMaster as others have suggested ASAP.

Hell on a stock chip (running 15psi) you can have detonation... That is why you need to watch a scan tool to make sure you are not..

I have seen pure stock trucks (no mods) get 18 degrees KR with the stock chip on a fresh tune up (new cap, rotor, spark plugs, fuel filter.) 15psi is still a good amount of boost.
