Re: steering ideas??
Doo a quick search on the Jeep Shaft and Astro Shafts. They both take out the OEM rag joint, but are a little different between the 2. I want to say the Jeep version 's collapsible feature is a bit too short, but directly bolts in. The Astro version's collapsible feature is the same as the S-10/Sy/Ty, but requires you to grind a small tab in the steering column for steering wheel alignment.
I did the ZQ8 and Astro shaft at the same time. I too had to pay attention to steering inputs as it was quite different from stock. That said the steering was now quicker and tighter, but that amplified how bad the suspension bushings are. So, I am in the middle of rebuilding the suspension in full. It is a huge domino effect. Keep in mind these trucks are 20 years old so you may upgrade that steering like I did and have similar problems. Don't let that discourage you though.
