Starting problems...

I just got a cvr starter and a buddy of mine was helping me put it in. I went to hook up my battery and the engine tried to turn over. I asked if he crossed the ground and power leads but he said there was only one way to put them on. Any ideas?

I added a length to the purple wire, if the two wires separated would this cause the engine to try and turn over w/out the key? I looked at a wiring diagram and it looks like it would just bypass the ignition (key) if the purple wire was disconnected. Does this make sense?

the way way for this to happen is for you to send power to the purple wire....it's either crossed or it's shorted to the battery cable

I checked it out, the purple wire was shorted, I fixed that now the "check engine" light stays on. My vehic drives like shit right now. It feels like it's riding first gear a little longer than it use to, and it chokes under a quick increase in boost. I'm thinkin I'll get it checked out and possibly tuned up tomorrow. But if anyone has any idea why that light is staying on that'd be pretty sweet.

I would also like to know. I have just gone through the same exact thing with my ty. Check engine light is on, but no codes. Tested ecm in another truck... works fine. Wires and harnesses LOOK ok, still won't start. I also have my battery disconnected while it sits overnight and figured that would rid my truck of the problem (as far as reseting that invisible code), but it doesn't. Only difference between mine and his is that mine won't fire up, just cranks. Somebody has to know...

Do you know anyone with a scan tool like DataMaster? It will tell you what the code is..
