Starting issues

So when I went to pick up the Ty from the transmission place they said it had a ton of running issues. This is strange since it's never had an issues since I've owned it.
It will crank and start but run very badly and the check engine light comes on. After running it for awhile it seems to work itself out of the problem. They checked the codes and said it came up with some map sensor codes stored in the computer. I drove it home. It seemed to run ok.
I played around with it at home and it started fine about a dozen times then the last time I tried to start it, it did this start and die thing again. It starts, but dies and if you give it gas to keep it running it blubbers and coughs for a while then it settled down and idled normal.

Any ideas? I've been looking on the forums for related posts, but didn't see any that fit my problem. Thanks for any ideas? Does it need anew map sensor?

I agree about them fixing it, but I just wanted it back. They took too long to do the repair in the first place. Don't think I'll be going back there anytime soon.

So, it seems to be running very rich. It's leaving black soot all over my floor. Runs crappy at idle. I obviously now need new plugs. Where can I get a new map sensor to replace mine with? I'll try a tune up, plugs rotor and cap and wires, to start and a new map sensor.

Any ideas on where I can get a replacement map sensor? Any parts vendors on here I can purchase from, or should I go online and get one? Stock map sensor will do just fine. I would like to get it running right in stock form before I upgrade to the 3-bar map sensor.

x2 on the vacuum lines/harness.

They may have also smashed wires between the trans and the block.

I'm sure your MAP is probably good. They screwed something up.

If they haven't done a trans in one of these, they were likely *very* frustrated by the time they were finishing.

I found a vac line on the back pulled out of it's fitting, not sure if I did that or if it happened when they did the tranny. Also found the pcv valve not seated right. Now it starts and runs for a little bit, then it starts running really rich and blowing black soot and dies. Will not run unless I let it sit for a while. Would fouled plugs make it do that? Also it would rev up all by itself a couple times and just stay there at high idle. Never seen that before. They didn't put a bolt back in by the transfer case, one that hold a bracket, and the down pipe has a hanger up by the starter that doesn't have a bolt in it. Looks like it should have one. I can't see any vac lines that aren't hooked up. But a couple do look like they could be replaced. Ugh, this is getting frustrating...

oh my, i just checked the codes and this is what came up.
12, 23, 33, 34, 43, 45, 53
will try clearing them
