Staring Problem on Sy

Would that be turns of the ignition switch or turns of the engine?
If you are talking about engine rotating and it does not attempt to start for an excessive amount of time? These trucks are a bit slow to run at a cold start. I usually turn to start for 2 or 3 seconds, then turn the ignition to off. Then start for 2 or 3 seconds and the truck usually starts. If not then switch off again and it always starts with the next start attempt. Even in very cold weather.

All of the trucks that I have owned did not start right up. You may try what I suggested and see if it cuts way down on the startup time.

Now if it is turns of the ignition switch you are referring to. I would have to guess. I am wondering if the purple wire that always gets burned that goes to the starter could be the cause?

For engine start, the important thing is that fuel pressure comes up to at least 40psi when the key is turned to RUN, and remains there during cranking.

Other than a stuck open or severely leaking injector which may be indicated by a rapid loss of pressure after shut-down, why does fuel pressure mean anything when the engine is NOT running?

The engine doesn't give a hoot what the fuel pressure is when it is not running. So why does everyone else?

I ask a lot of questions, it’s in my nature. I try not to speculate before asking a couple questions. In addition to what you pointed out about fuel injectors, there’s also the pump hose \ clamps, the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm, and pump check valve which would affect the time it takes for fuel pressure to come up.

If the answer to the question was “I don’t have a fuel pressure gauge” then that’s a first handy piece of information.

If the answer to the question was “it holds reasonably well”, then there’s a couple things that can be assumed good for the moment.

If it drops like a rock to zero after then well then there’s a good place to start.

Was my question really so offensive to your senses that you took the time to reply to this thread and interrogate me about my question rather than reply to the OP? We’re talking about fuel pressure. You’re acting like I asked him how much air was in his tires.

How about "Do you hear the relay and pump prime when you key-on?"
How about "Post a video so we know what 4 turns is"

Are these questions acceptable to you as the self-appointed hall monitor?
