From what I've read, it seems the only stand alone systems syty owners are using on their trucks is the big stuff 3. Has anyone used an adapted AEM stand alone? I have a friend who is a genius at tuning imports and helped develop STS turbo systems. He says he can do my truck with the AEM stand alone and dyno tune, any thoughts on this?

Just get the BS3. I have used the AEM on dsm's and the BS3 way more user friendly. If your guy is a good with AEM ten BS3 will be no problem to use. I believe Harry Anderson on the board is a dealer for BS3 Im sure he would hook you up. I think hes v6quick on here.

That would be worth looking into, he quoted me 2,000 for install and dyno tuning with the AEM. But if the BS3 is more plug and play for the sy, that would seem like a better route. I know I need to do a custom tune to get my truck running right, I just did L35 heads and a new aeromotive 340 lph fuel pump. The previous owner put an after market cam in, but he can't recall what it was.

In the coming weeks, I will be installing a Holley EFI setup in a syclone. While there isn't anything plug-and-play at the moment, I am certain that I could come up with something if there was enough interest.
I also agree with auto addictions...not a big fan of AEM controller. For that money you can get into any of the real standalone efi systems. Let me know if you need any of them....we do them all!

I have played with ProEFI at Steve's shop. I don't see a reason why it can't be used in a syty, but I still like the Holley for our app better. We can get one of these as well...we did one earlier this year in an 06 Gallardo that we did one of our Stage 1 kits in.

The MS stuff on this site is kinda old, its come along way since then, full autotune while driving as well as bluetooth connetions, can bus for transmission controls, and android apps for logging.

i dont know what your goals are, and you also didnt ask this question, but you can go 10's on a stock ECM bassicly. so why would u want to spent 2k?

Yeah, I will do a write up, but I want to complete the project so I can explain the process accurately and make sure it's finished and running.
another + is when/if I decide to drop the oddfire in the truck, I can just change over the settings and run the oddfire ignition/fueling as well.

i have a big stuff3 set up it was plug and play it easy to install and no cutting or nothing i really like it the only thing is that not a lot of people in miami work with bs3 everybody works with aem...

Well I have a couple thoughts with the stand alone, first off is that with code 59-I just feel like I am clueless and I'm not exactly tech savy. I could learn, but I am pretty busy with school and three jobs. My buddy who would do the tuning says he will only tune on stand alone, thats his comfort zone I guess. My truck also has an aftermarket cam, but I don't know what size it is. I figure with the stand alone, there will be more options for tuning and the ability to fine tune it with out having to down load someone elses bin may be more reliable. Correct me if I'm wrong here, I really would like to learn more. And even more, I want my truck on the road! Its been collecting dust for far too long

Code59 isnt all that difficult to use. That being said I have not used BS3, but I have used AEM and a few others. It sucks that your 'buddy' wants 2 grand and is totally unwilling to even concider using something that really is very easy to install, interface with, and is cheap. The dyno tuning isnt going to help you out much on the street. I ran my truck on the dyno once and it hated it, I had to pull a bunch of fuel out of the tune to get it to operate with the different load from the dyno. Its too bad you live in Utah.
you may want to talk with him about doing some street tuning instead of the dyno stuff. If he is an actual buddy of yours, he should be able to do it pretty quickly, maybe an hour of driving around. I've helped at least 5 people like that, One person I can think of on this site, although we never finished it because he had a broken ECT sensor...

MegaSquirt is not for the 'non tech savy'. You need to understand how everything works. Tuning and wiring. Signal noise is a huge deal and if you can identify it from a tuning problem you'll be dead in the water. Also there is very little support. You will learn a bunch bc you have too. I run a MSII and the GPIO box for trans control. It wasn't easy but once you're that deep you can do almost anything. Now that I have the GPIO I can add eletronic boost control for about $50 or EGT or w/e. You can even do some coding/programing for more complex functions.
If you wanted to spend the money BS3 is where its at. But for 90% of what most do, you would be better off with the Code 59 and not hacking the wiring.

I would like to know where in code59 the software is limited to where you dont think its capible of doing anything you want it to (Besides multiple stages of nitrous or 2/3 steps)
