Yes it will,it will be easier to build up boost, but not by much.
A 2800 stall would be the highest I would go w/a stock type Typhoon.
You will get a better take off.
Anything more than 2800,would be a waste. Our engines are low RPM torque monsters.

The stock torque converter is rated at 1693rpm (at least my original in my Sy was that). Suposedly the Ty converter are a little tighter than Sy.

If your on a budget, GM's highest stall for 700r4 that I am aware of is 2025rpm. I would be tempted to use that for a stock truck. With the torque of a stock SyTy it probably would stall to 2500-2600 rpm.

Tys are 2100 iirc

What they are rated at and what they stall at are 2 different things. The rating is at certain torque. My Sy 1639rom would stall to atleast 2200rpm when I brake torqued it. My old Corvette's 2025 rpm would stall to 2400rpm. I can assure you that the Ty TC is not rated at 2100 rpm unless it aftermarket.

Re: stall speed recomendations

I run 2700 9/11 and am quite pleased. Lost about 1-2 MPG, but takes off from idle like a champ! Wife says it is like running over the garden hose on initial (easy) take off, but is much faster after that.
