Ok Gents, my worst fears may have come to pass. It appears that the Grand Cherokee SRT is the new king of the hill, and with it running mid 13's or better STOCK, just think what anS/C would do for it??? Keep in mind it to is AWD! Plus they look awesome! :rant:

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

Here is what I've found out thus far.
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 perf. stock, vs. Ty stock.
SRT-8 Ty
1/4 Mile ET: 13.311 ??????? Have not run mine in 1/4 yet
1/4 Mile MPH: 0.000
1/8 Mile ET: 8.761 Typhoon: 9.03
1/8 Mile MPH: 79.530 Typhoon: 74
0-60 Foot ET: 2.273 Typhoon: 1.9
TEMPERATURE F: 52.0 Typhoon: 75.0 Notice the temp diff. here
Timeslip Scan:
Car Make: Jeep ::::GMC with 74,000 miles
Car Model: Grand Cherokee ::::Typhoon
Car Type: SRT-8
Car Year: 2006 ::: 1992

OK, after doing a side by side, I've decided that with a purchase price of $10,000.00 and with another $5,000.00 in parts into my Ty, it is going to blow the doors off of an SRT-anything, so I'm quite impressed with the Ty's perf. given the TEMP. diff. outside. I think had the temp been 52 for my runs, that I'd of seen very close if not the same 1/8th mile times. What do you guys think of all this?

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

youd be suprised there were a couple of guys on here that ran their ty's maybe a year or two ago that were in mid 13's bone stock!! and when I say that I mean same plugs, wires, cap/rotor, and even the original tires that came from the factory. IMO it doesnt matter what any of the current suv/trucks are putting out today. sy/ty's were doing the same numbers 15 years ago. All the new stuff is cool and they are fast ill give them that but they just arent the same.

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

The jeep is nice but there just as fast as our " stone age technology " trucks. plenty of guys here have gone mid to low 13's. STOCK even some had little issues. TYROD i think his sig says he has a bad torque converter. and he went mid 13's.

the only real advantage the jeep has over us...... BREMBO BRAKES!!!!!

you can install brembo brakes if you want too. just get the c-5 brackets from cbr and get the brembo front calipers if you want.

and youll get a lot more looks and compliments with a sy/ty then you will w/ one of those. Last night I had 5 or 6 people flipping out that they got to see a "real Typhoon in person" :eek: :rotf:

before I started to hack away at my Ty this year, I had tons of 13.1X-13.3X passes at the track. This is without a chip of any sort...just a nice tune-up and making sure everything is working the way it should....full weight of 3990#...stock boost levels.

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

I don't know about that. Remember he is stock, as we are, and his torque convertor will only allow so much off the line, and with us, we are at 5psi+ boost, and he has no boost, so he has to wait for RPM to come up to get max TQ. and we do not. But I agree, 2.2 did seem a tad bit slow.

What had you done to your truck by then to get those low 13's?

I agree... sure the srt8 is quick and fast.. but it's pretty expensive and looks like every other newr car on the road.. my sy stands out and no one else around me has the same thing as me.. we excluding you guys but you get the point.

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

Let's see, 280hp V6 in a 15 year old truck vs. brand new truck with a V8 pushing over 400 hp. I would hope if the TY is unmodified it would get it's ass handed to it, but I think being 15 years old, they need a little help from mods to keep up with high perf cars and trucks of the new millenium. :tup: :2cents:

Re: SRT Grand Cherokee

I have had my GC SRT-8 for almost two months. When looking to buy, Chicago area dealers were asking 10K over sticker. I live in Indy where they are asking 5K over sticker. I did a lot searching on Jeep's website and found dealers in central Indiana with the trucks in stock selling at MSRP.

I mentioned in another thread my Typhoon is faster than the SRT however the Ty is not bone stock.
