Re: Sportmachine 18" wheels

I've dealt, with Tom and he's not only courteous before and during the sale, he gives good support after it. I just emailed him the other day since the guy at Advance Auto told me Help didn't make the guides for the S10 window. He was out somewhere but emailed me right back from his phone and gave me enough info, so I could find the part number online and get them.
As far as the wheel price, you can't even start to compare the price of custom wheel to mass produced ones. One of the shops I use to use when I worked down in South Carolina make custom motorcycle wheels. you supplied a drawing of what you wanted and he produced the wheel. The starting price was $2K per wheel and the naked lady wheel he made was almost $4K. Each of the spokes on the wheel was a naked lady with her hands clasped together above her head.
I wouldn't spend that kind of money on wheels and tires, but if you want to play you need to pay.

if that was truly the case, they would have more etiquette when dealing with customers, instead of treating them like they come dime a dozen, i know from personal experience!

IMO I wouldn't spend the money, I'd rather buy some CCW's or HRE's

Maybe just a miscommunication .Or is there another Sportmachine out there because I've done some kickin of tires and serious business talk with those guys and nothing but respect was givin an takin from the sportmachine I believe everyone here is talking about,I know that from personal experience!

i'd say youre probably the only one! I have a list of vendors I will not buy from based on their shitty business practices, some of them have since gone out of business (not a surprise) and only one or two of them remain forum "sponsors" (actually they are probably on borrowed time in terms of renewing their contracts).

Needless to say, Sportmachines is not one the comes close to falling on that list. I have not done a ton of business with them, most likely because my truck hasnt seen pavement in 6 years, but I have taken advantage of some of their unique offerings and the group purchases in the meantime. Not only have they offered good products, they have also restored multiple members trucks here on the forum and most importantly have kept in touch with the community, asking for product feedback and suggestions and giving people updates when they can.

I can't even imagine what your problem was, I can come up with some guesses, but Im not going to waste my time going through them.

A few days after I bought my Ty I called Tom and was treated amazingly well. He didn't know me. He had no idea who I was or anything, but treated me very well. I needed a few odds and ends for the Ty and told him what I needed. He told me no problem and I had them on my desk at work in two days. Maybe you caught them on a bad day or something, but I've never heard of anything but good things about them.

As common as these trucks are we need to make sure that the vendors that ARE willing to support us get our support in return! (besides- where else are you going to find a set of Ty intercooler brackets???)

Well, this thread got a little off topic....

Thank you all for the feedback and support. We really appreciate it and its what we strive for, and it means alot to us. We started this whole thing because of passion for these trucks, and this community. Its what continues to fuel us and the thing we do. We try to be professional and courteous to anyone that calls, emails, buys parts, etc. We, like everyone else do have our bad days and shortcomings. Sometimes it takes us longer to get back to someone or mail out their part on occasion. But we aren't summit racing. Its just two guys that, up until last month were just doing this on nights and weekends, on top of regular jobs and life. Tom left his financial practice less than a month ago so he could focus on Sportmachines 100%. So we could offer even better customer service, build more trucks and develop new and innovative products.

Syclone809, we aplogize for whatever it is we did to leave a bad taste in your mouth and hope that we have the opportunity to change your mind.

To get back on topic. The wheels aren't cheap. It was a culmination of an idea Tom got when he bought his first Typhoon back in 2001. We finally had the opportunity to see it through and couldn't be happier with the outcome. We would love it if more people had them on their trucks, for a variety of reasons. We wish we could make them cheap enough for everyone to afford, but we weren't going to compromise quality or design in any way. We continually are looking for a way to bring the price down, or make them more affordable, and we have some ideas to potentially make that possible, but its in the early phases and I don't want to say too much until we have some concrete info.

Thanks everyone.

Tom & Dameon
