my buddy does this on is 69 camaro with a small block. from what i understood. if the plug is not indexed it will melt the plug. i dont think we have to worry about it. if i understand it right. it has to do with the type of heads you use. dont quote me im not a 100% sure.

Don't waste your time. We used to do it out of necessity on the high compression race engines because of interference problems between the piston dome and the plug. Never really found any real world power but a little bit on the engine dyno.
No it will not hurt anything if you don't.
