i just have the regular ngk plugs. a friend advised me not to buy the expensive plugs to use with an ignition box. says when he had an msd in his truck he went through plugs so often that it didnt make sense to buy expensive plugs. he said he used both couldnt tell a difference in the performance of the plugs using the msd.

Stock gap on a CPI engine is .035
Maybe this will help some. Guy has a 95 Blazer 4.3L CPI.

They recommend 2 steps colder on the plugs and opening the gap .010 - .020 but not over .065

For our applications opening the gap is a VERY bad idea. You will blow out the spark if your gap is too big, or if you run more boost. We use the Iridium plugs (not platnium) in everything we build and usaully gap them from .020 to .028 depending on the application. We will run a NGK heat range 6 or 7 in most everything (TR6ix or TR7ix for vortecs or UR6ix / UR7ix for stock heads)
Do this with stock or MSD ignition. The MSD will not kill your plugs any faster than you'll ever notice , unless you run a pro mag 44..................thats another story.

oh well doesnt matter now, i gapped them at .040. thanks to everyone for the replies though. yeah i should have made it more clear it was a so gt... i may pull them tommorow and re gap them :dunno: . it makes a lot of difference in the way it runs. smoother, faster acceleration and runs a lot smoother. :tup: i like it, ready to get it to the track and see if and how much it picked it up.
