Source for new Viscous couplings

I am hoping the group knows the best place for a new viscous coupling for the 1372/4472 T-Case.

I just did the DaveP test and mine will easily turn 90 degress in less then 6 seconds at 40 ft-lbs. It is actually a bit tough to get to 40 ft-lbs. I guess it failed open which would explain why I was spinning the rear wheels like crazy at the track last week:D

Does Borg Warner actually still make them? Anybody sell the OEM unit? Anybody sell an upgraded unit that is a bit stiffer?

Here is what I found so far:

This looks to be OEM?

This says that it is aftermarket.

This place sells them on an Ebay store

Anywhere else?

Best?

Re: Source for new Viscous couplings

I put one in from Cobra Transmission just before Carlisle. I only have a couple hundred miles on it so I can't give much feedback.. It did survive Auto-X at Carlisle and lots of launches afterwards...

Its not OEM... IIRC the box said Made in Taiwan.

Re: Source for new Viscous couplings

I got the one from cobra transmission after numerous recommendations on here from people. Unless you're ready to pay about $500-$800 for a NOS one from a gm supply site, the cobra one will do just fine.

Dunno if it'll help but here's mine when I got it:

Re: Source for new Viscous couplings

This is great info.

I actually ended up getting a rebuilt unit from STE.

It was a good price. What was more interesting is that since they rebuild them they can adjust how much fluid is inside and what viscosity it is. I got a unit that is suppose to have the stock specs, but in the future they said they would be more then willing to make a custom one for me that was stiffer to get more torque transfer.
