That truck has a lot of character. Are those more reliable than the sy's? What did you pay for it? How many miles.

i traded a running 88 chevy 4x4 2500 for it. (rusty) +50 cash.

i got the sonoma gt, plus a sanborn 60 gal air compressor runs on 220v.

it's for sale, also.

Speaking of that broken console cover, would any body happen to have one that is not like that, becuase mine is kinda smashed from the original owner...only bad part of my trucks interior...eww. :squint:

Was that thing wrecked in the front at one point? *Trying to guess why the front cladding is gone and the front is different*

Hmmm... probably can't offer you what you want for it but I'd like to have it before it get parted out.

Quick estimate on making it decent again..... $2000 - $2500
not counting the injector, console and other nickle/dime parts.

Front bumper cladding
Front support $500

Driver bumperette
Pass bumperette $300

Driver rear corner
Pass rear corner $400

Roll pan
Roll pan support $200

Shade tree paint job $500 - $1000

I didn't research the prices but I think I am fairly close on most. Shop around and maybe find some bargains and have a nice truck for a fair price.

Re: Sonoma Gt #501 Has Been Saved!!! now with pics!! UPDATED!!

IT RUNS!!!!!!!!

so here's what happened....story i got..

1st guy had truck, it started running rough, so he start's throwing parts at it, trying to futally fix it.

list of new parts i found..probaly less than 100 miles on all of them.

1. new cat back factory exhaust.
2. new 02 sensor
3. new fuel filter.
4. new timing chain (yes he was that stupid, read on, it gets better.)
5. new tps sensor.
6. new plugs.
7. new plug wires.
8. COMPLETE NEW FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. not just the pump, the WHOLE assembly.
9. pays $400 at napa for a new cpi injector assembly.

at this point he gave up and traded it even up to guy # 2 for a running, driving, beater.

guy #2 ownz a repair facility and is the guy you would NEVER take your car to, hell i wouldn't tell my worst enemy to take his car to this guy!
rant3.gif

he trys to get it running to no avial....
rotf.gif
rotf.gif

truck sits for 1 year outside of his shop. meanwhile the 1st guy asks 2nd guy if he can have the cpi injector back so he can take it back to napa and get his money back
icon_rolleyes.gif

so i come along, and trade a $500 beater that im asking $750 for, that's ready to rust in half
icon_lol.gif
+ $50 cash for a sonoma gt, and a newer sanborn 60 gal. air compressor.

i sold the air compressor on e-bay for $365 on e-bay within a week.
rotf.gif
Ok.gif

anyways.....i got a used cpi injector from JIMMY for shipping.

YOU ROCK JIMMY!!!!!!!! i owe you one!!! just let me know if you need anything.

put it in and check fuel pressure, 28 psi no higher.
rant3.gif

so i bang on tank with rubber hammer, psi droppes to 22 psi, no higher...WTF!!!!

cranked up fp reg, no dice.. install new regulator, same, no dice...

so i had a sneaking suspicion and pulled the bed, to get to the fuel pump, and what do i find???
HE NEVER PUT HOSE CLAMPS ON THE RUBBER PIECE OF HOSE FROM THE FUEL PUMP TO THE HARD LINE IN THE TANK!!
screwy.gif
hahaspit.gif

ownedsign.gif
banghead.gif
doh.gif
suicide.gif

dropjaw.gif
so i put 2 50 cent hose clamps in, and BAM!! 60 psi of fuel pressure.
Ok.gif

turn the key and VROOM! fires right up, but has a hell of a lope, and a almost flowmaster 40 series "ting, ta, ting, ting," out the stock exhaust!!

so i think it has a hell of a cam in it.:myclone: :myclone:

i had to go so i never took it off the lift, to drive it, but IT RUNS!!

so to sum it up, this guy is a $1.00 idiot, that could have fixed this truck for a measely dollar.

Re: Sonoma Gt #501 Has Been Saved!!! now with pics!! UPDATED!!

update...#2 it would only run good when it was cold, and in open loop mode..once in closed loop it would pop and backfire, couldn't figure it out, because it had a brand new o2 sensor.

found out that the guy mangled the factory o2 sensor plug on the engine wireing harness side, put on a new plug and he got all three wires wrong!!

switched the wires, and BAM!! perfect idle, and perfect driveability.

then i foud no bolts in the drivers side of the crossmember, and no bolts in the tranny mount either.

took it out for a drive, and was rewarded with a 1-2 shift at 5500 that kicked the truck sideways, and a 2-3 shift at 5500 that broke both tires loose!!

needless to say i am finally a happy boy!

btw add new water pump, new ignition module, and new coil to the list of new parts that i found.
