Some sandpaper, time, and a few beers.

I didnt just want to throw the LS1 calipers on my truck without doing something. I couldnt stand the look of them with all the nasty flashing and cast marks, so I decided to do something about it. Grabbed some sandpaper and beer(s) and went to town smoothing.

It's aluminum, so it goes relatively fast, but still takes a bit of patience. And it does pay off. Now I have 3 more to get done. :squint:

Big difference when you set them next to each other.

Halfway through, bit still a ways to go.

Should have just thrown them under a buffing wheel after you smoothed them out. Either way looks pretty good.

That looks really good. Want to do mine??

Thanks. NOPE! :rotf:

Few others suggested that when I sent out some texts, but for some reason Ive always been stuck on the turbo vehicles = red calipers. Polished out calipers would be pretty sick though...I just dont want to have to deal with the repolishing every few months.

I sanded and polished mine last year, and haven't touched them since.

You can also fill in the 3 flat spots with a tig wlder and sand them smooth like they were never there.

(Hope you're not OCD; if you are I just ruined your day)

you'll be able to tell if you polish them, paint it wouldnt matter. the filler rod will be a slightly different color compared to cast aluminum.
