Since Ive gotten my truck running, Ive had horrible problems trying to get it in to a good tune. My latest, the truck will stutter, have low voltage, 02's are never over 200mV. So I decided Ild pull the gas tank to make sure verythings ok but first to put the stock chip and mAP back to make sure. So I did hte chip first and wow!! My truck runs great. Im not sure whats wrong with this chip but I do know that when you scroll through programs the truck ownt een run on all of them. It will stall the truck out and not restart. Any thoguths here? I really want this thing to work atleast till I get the new AUTOTUNE coming out. I also am now saving up for all the chip burning stuff and wheatever. But in the mean time, Ild really like for this Ultiamte to work. Ive heard that its not meant for this altitude at all, any thoughts or input?

you just changed from the ultimate to the stock chip w/o changing your map sensor and it ran great? i'd look into that map sensor. i needed a three bar and a buddy gave me one saying it was a three bar but turned out to be a two and it made the truck run like ass

Verify that the eprom is installed on the ultimate carrier properly (even if you haven't messed with it). It should look like this (note the aligning notch on the end) - link (even though this is a Moates G3 carrier, the Ultimate is positioned the same.) Also, note the position of the stock chip being piggybacked. If you piggyback it backwards (where the alignment notch on the stock chip is facing upwards) it could cause just as severe issues as a backwards eprom.

Otherwise, you may verify that the 3 bar MAP is indeed good. Maybe a local could let you borrow their known good one?

Somewhere on this forum is a photo reference of GM Map sensors. I would make absolutely sure the 3-bar you have is a 3-bar. Then I would make sure it works. With the key on, engine off, check your output voltage. A 2-bar has roughly 2.3-2.4 volts. A 3-bar should have less.

Ok, last night I put it back in with the 3bar and still drove like crap. I know my 3bar is good because I had it working perfect for a while and now it blows. I have a friend with a SY that we will be testing it out on. Hopefully I can get this done this week. It sucks bad cause I cant feel that topend anymore w/o those extra #'s. I was running 19psi on T1 20psi with 150 IAT's, 166 ENG TEMP, and 02's were at 910 with a max of 4*KR. Now its just horrible.

Chips dont usually go bad. Anywthing is possible, but I would look really hard at everything else on your truck before blaming the chip if it was working fine before.

Well, its not the chip. I put it in my friends SY and it never skipped a beat. What the hell is wrong?!

Is there any other taps in the vacuum/boost line that goes to the 3bar? If so, check for leaks. Also, I'd recommend rerouting any taps, and run the 3 bar direct to the intake with no "t's" comeing off of it. I found that the boost comes up slower with the boost guage tapped off of the map sensing vacuum line.

I have had 3 bars go bad, better check that out. It is more common than you think.

What does the scan tool say? You do have one right?
