Keep in mind there are several combinations available for the Skylines. Was it a R33 ? R34 ? Are you positive it wasn't a GT-S and NOT a GT-R ?
Whats nowhere near stock ? If it didn't have uprated turbos and full exhaust swaps etc.......its most likely just cosmetic engine mods.
From what I've seen with regards to any LS-1 cars on juice and heads.....a stock max boosted GT-R R34 would step out 4-6 car lengths on awd launch and continue stretching to the traps.
These bench races are impossible to gauge with out real specs of the builds.
Still fun to hear about them though.

Maybe Sean can post up some modded results in the 1/4 for the differences in a GT-S to the GT-R to get a better understanding of these curious animals.??

sorry for the late reply I was away on vacation. When I said "nowhere near stock" it was a little of an exaggeration-(spelling?) I meant it as in comparison to the camaro. The evo claimed he ran mid 12's at the track and I didnt get the specific build of it but basically lots of bolt-ons, turbo, cams, tuning. The skyline is an R-32 GT-R. Its a legit GT-R imported from England long ago. Im not certain of everything and there is more done to it than I can recall, but it has Turbo back exhaust, intake, ecu, new rear end, I dont think he actually had the turbos put on when it was at the shop. I imagine a big part of it was the driver. I havent met many people that were more capable at the wheel than my friend with the camaro meanwhile the kid in the evo didnt know what the hell he was doing. I know for a fact that the LS-1's are underated. I dont know how fast the R-34's are stock or running max boost so idk. Like you said unless there are axact specs and time slips its hard to really say what would happen. The camaro also smoked the evo from a dead stop. It didnt even get the launch on him. With good tires and a good driver, they can hook up just as well. Ive only managed maybe 1-2 car lengths on a launch againt the camaro, then hes right there. :dunno:

now...with heads thrown into the mix and some spray, that's a pretty stout statement to make!

Re: Skyline Gtr??

That is a strong statement to make to domestic car owners. Myself being one too .
I guess a better way to talk about this would be to say....a well tuned stock set of cars ( no bolt-ons,head swaps, internal works, power adders, cams, etc) but just good rubber, maybe exhaust upgrades would reveal the end result I spoke of earlier. Does that make a more clear picture ? I'm not one to bench race as I think its a waste of time too......but the afore mentioned line up would be an interesting one.
I guess since this comparative could go many ways eg: mod for mod....price per hp.....year of model to year of model etc.
Hard to fairly line up without something or someone begging fairness.I realize.
I wish my RB26dett AWD chasis was finished into the 240-Z. I'd use it too give us all some idea of what they can do. But even THEN...someone would say something about weight, swapped engine, etc. So the fun gets sucked out of it quickly.
My older brother races rat motered Chevy's and always has. He tells me the fact will always remain......domestic owners will never be comfortable with an import showing well.
I say its entirely up to the individuals ego and outlook. I for one always appreciate the effort that goes into ANY build, period. If it runs out well and is nicely executed, Kudos !

Wow he must be REAL old!

I agree that street racing is impossble to tell whats really going on. A .3 sec jump off the line doesn't look like much at first...

True on both accounts.I'm 43 and he's 46. I'm also not disalusioned about the LS1 engines having great hp for their design. Its by all means impressive. The RB engines don't usually live in the 800-1300 hp ranges until they are punched out to 3.2 liters and have all the usual forged and balanced goodies.STill just on turbos,no juice there. Whereas the LS engines can continue skyward with potential. The RB is maxed by then. :(
A stock GT-R isn't light either. The AWD drivetrain and HIcas has its penalty.
I personally would love to see American Car Mnfctr's engineer a really potent lightweight multivalve small displacement engine that sets Europe on its ear...or ass for that matter. Its way overdue. :p
