Signals (Specificaly Left)

I'm having a slight issue with 1190's left turn signal indicator. On the dash the < is lit up whether or not I have the signal on and both the front and rear left lights are on but don't flash.

I'm unsure if these trucks have two flashers but I've replaced both the front and rear bulbs with no luck. Should I go ahead and replace the flasher as well or does my problem lie somewhere else?

Left front parking lamp is not grounded

Could you give me a quick rundown on what to look at? I've been underneath the front of the truck and couldn't tell anything out of order. Is there a specific spot where it should be grounded at? I'm sure it's something simple :rotf:

Re: Signals (Specificaly Left)

Could be the socket itself. The ground contact isn't connected to the black wire any longer. I had this happen on my Ty. Had to replace the socket.

I'll take a look at that tonight....I suspect I have to take the parking lamp apart or atleast pull the bulb/socket and give it a good look over?

Re: Signals (Specificaly Left)

Even though I replaced the front driver's side lamp socket the signal still doesn't work. I have however disconnected it completely and noticed that the light on the dash is still lit up and the signal still doesn't work. Possibly something in the rear of the car?

It`s in the front. The lamp assembly is not grounded properly. Take a wire from a good known ground and put it to the lamp housing. If that works it proves a bad ground.

Do you mean the parking lamp assembly or the headlight assembly? I'm assuming the parking lamp assembly but I can't seem to find anywhere to actually ground it.

Ok, so I checked the ground wire that's bolted to the headlamp housing and it's snug, not broken or anything. Now I'm really lost!!

Re: Signals (Specificaly Left)

If you remove the bulb from the socket the dash indicator goes out, correct? Verify this so we know the problem is definitely with that socket/bulb.
Assuming that this corrects the problem, when you re-install the bulb take a piece of wire and place it in the socket with the bulb so that it touches the metal base of the bulb, NOT THE BOTTOM where the two contacts are, but along the side. Now, take the other end of the wire and connect it to a known good ground. The battery neg. term. would be a good place. If all works well then you have verified that there is no ground between the socket and the chassis.

I lost the bulb/socket somehow and it's been disconnected for a few days now so I know it can't be the bulb/socket.

Replace the flasher.
If the left turn lights (front and rear) are not any brighter or dimmer than the right side then it is the flasher.

If the lights are different than you have an issue with a bulb or wiring.

So how did you lose the bulb & socket? Are the wires just hanging bare? Are they touching each other?

Repeat the above posted procedure, but this time try the rear bulb.
