I would say no >.< BUT you should have specified whether or not they had been pressure tested prior to the purchase (if so then:)
Is there a way to refund you for the head or heads?
Have them pay to fix it or maybe split the cost of the mistake?
Hopefully it wasnt on purpose, which I doubt.
The seller has to make it right IMO

it broke off due to improper packageing/and or handeling

Did you ask for insurance? How was it packaged?

If he did a decent job packing it and you didnt ask for insurance, you are at a loss.

That takes a pretty good mishandling to break a head.

IMO heads should be shipped on separate days to begin with. I made the mistake of shipping a set once to "92typhoon" from the board and UPS broke one of the heads. I think it was my mistake for not packing it a little better and gave Sam his money back.

Re: should I have to pay?

I would say don't buy used parts, I got burned here a few times. When buying you got to ask all possible questions, you can't assume it good or working, I learn that the hard way.

I get this a few times after I bought something and its no good "Oh I didn't use it, I bought it used from so and so and it was just sitting here". :fist:

My ranting here have nothing to do with this post or the people involve...

Re: should I have to pay?

Well this is just my :2cents: but if a seller / shipper sends anything without putting insurance on it and including that in the total shipping cost he's a fool (I don't even ask or leave it as an option, it just happens. No questions and no blame!). Also if anything is damaged due to lack of or improper packing then they (shipper is at fault) especialy if it is internal damage. In this case, heads are heavy (a lot of mass) and cast iron will break / crack a lot eaiser than most people think. Again just my :2cents: .

Re: should I have to pay?

ok TurboTyAZ...how about you tell the entire story instead of just the part that makes Raist103 look bad.

you got a HELL of a deal on a few parts. These heads were built by my shop at a cost of about $1100 and had very few miles on them. Totally built with new everything, 1.60s/2.02, beehives, hardened seats, 3angle job, all in some fresh 772 castings. When he told me what he sold them for i wanted to hit him, becuase he forgot what he had.

You should have dealt w/ UPS since the heads were damaged in shipping. What did you do instead of file a claim w/ UPS?

I have the heads in my possession right now. I took them back to the shop that originally built them - they can't be welded/resurfaced cheaply or reliably...so they want to build a new head to replace the broken one - and then replace all the valve seals and redo the valve job on the other head to freshen them (if needed - but prolly not since they have so few miles on them). So he isn't trying to scam you out of money...he's trying to make the best out of the shitty situation that UPS has put the heads into (even though they were insured but no claim filed)

Re: should I have to pay?

not for nothing but a bunch of us have dealt with don (raist103 ) in the past if the postal service F**KED up then it is on them and you to solve the issue NOT DON !!! and if you are too lazy to have the problem rectified on your end (NOT FILING A CLAIM ) the you get what you deserve ! so shut up name dropper !
