this is the text I got

1988 4.3 block
bored 30 over
balanced and blueprinted crank
SRP aluminum dish pistons
8/3 4:1 compression ratio
comp magnum nitrous/turbo cam with .500 int lift and 266 int dur .270 exh dur and a 112 lobe
comp cam magnum roller lifters
comp pushrods
heads are ported and polished with bigger intake valves
comp valve springs with positive seals
comp roller rockers
long tube headers
edalbrock intake and 600 cfm carb

with a supercharger at 8 psi ran a 11.33 in a s10 blazer
he said it made on pump gas and N/A (no boost)
358 hp / 4600 rpm
401 ft lbs tq @ 5000 rpm

so would it run good with the sy intake, turbo and ECM or not?
or is this guy blowning smoke up my ass

BTW I can get the motor for $800 and I can go see it running in the truck.

Is this your bush?
Re: should I buy this motor?

I've always said if it sounds to good to be true it usually is but if you've got $800 burning a hole in your pocket I'd say roll the dice you might score or get snookered! Good luck buddy!

yep. same thought. if its a reputable person its awesome. if its just a craigslist guy be weary. if its still in the truck thats a bonus. but if you can get some money off id say its a good proposition. just my 2cents.

358hp/400tq on a n/a 4.3 with 8.75:1 compression seems pretty optimistic if you ask me, especially at such a low rpm.

Yes and no. If he is on 8psi running 11.33, its not out of the question that it does make the power N/A. In theory, 14.7psi of boost doubles an N/A motors power. Doing a little math for the 8psi yields: 358 x (8/14.7+1) = 552hp boosted. Thats about the right number for 11.3's in a 3300-3500lbs car. There is a guy on here that PM'd me when i first got my Ty, talking about doing 11.8's N/A with a pumpgas 4.3L.

Take her for a spin and if she pulls well, you know he's probably not lying. It should still be a solid 13 sec motor N/A. Would be a great base for turbo. Probably do 600hp @ 15psi with a good tune. Going from longtube headers to SyTy manifolds will choke her down some so dont expect anything near the same power output at 8psi turbo'd.

Like everyone else is saying, if you have the money to burn, give it a shot.

Re: should I buy this motor?

I'm throwin' the BS flag on those HP numbers NA. Running 8.75/1 compression pushing that much horse, I'm not buying it.

I'd pass. Does he have the dyno sheet on the pull? Video of the pull/run.

If the test drive thrills you .... Buy it... Or atleast make a offer You could live with... N/A horsepower rating seems a bit high imo...

Have a hard time seeing those hp figures out of that na motor I want to see the dyno sheets and take it for a spin.

Re: should I buy this motor?

If the engine is in good condition it would be worth the money. If it does actually have the parts in it the seller claims.

What are the heads L35? The intake would be great to modded for injectors.

Hell I can tell you that I'm the King of Sweden, but that doesn't make it true.

If I were you I'd want receipts, pics, dyno sheets and the time slip. I wanna see a pic of the motor with the blower on it.I wanna see the boxes the parts came in.I wanna see some definative proof that the seller isn't full of shit and he didn't just guess that the engine might make that much hp/tq on the moon if it actually had the parts he claims.

I call BS too. WTF are "bigger valves" ? You don't know what valves you bought?

Sounds like something a con man would say.

Yeah, true, but they didn't dyno it on the moon. ;)

Very true Jim. I think the guy selling this motor is embelleshing to a degree. I would want to see a dyno sheet & reciepts also. A test drive will tell the story to.

IMO the seller is full of more shit than a Thanksgiving turkey and is selling a stock motor with intake, carb and headers.Until proof.
