Shifter cable source?

Guys I dont exactly where your shifter cables are breaking, but I fixed mine about two years ago with no problems yet. Mine broke right where the shifter in meets the shifter. The plastic shielding would more when you try to shift instead of the cable if I remember right. What I did was get a piece of rubber heater hose, 3/8" I think(or whatever fits over the cable). Then I cut a slit right through the whole length of the hose and fit in over the platic sleeve that was pulling out of the head. So basically half the hose would go over the stationary head part where the plastic sleeve slid in, and the other half would go over the actual sleeve. Then I tightened the hose over the cable with hose clamps. One over the sleeve(so it would hold the sleeve stationary when trying to shift) and the other over the head. So this hose would just hold the plastic cable sleeve tight to the head where the sleeve originally pulled out of. Now, I dont know if all the cables break there but mine did and this fix worked great if you didnt want to dish out the $120USD for a new one you couldnt find anymore. Fern
