Well finally got under the TY to fix the blown up propshaft and it is all bad....
When the propshaft broke it banged on everything my tranny, floorboard, and cross-member. It also hit my shifter cable. Now the bracket is bent and i can not get the cable back on the bracket. So i need to buy a new one. Went to the parts store and could not find what i was looking for. Does anyone know what part number it is and where i can one?

I called GM the other day looking for one of those and they told me its discontinued. I would try a junk yard, htey were pretty common on TH 350's and TH400's.

The bracket is specific to the Sy Ty and SGT. One of the vendors around here has them listed on their site.

Thats odd cause when I had them cross it with the 1980 Corvette ( cause I owned one ) it was the same part #. My 74 and 77 Monte Carlo had the exact same bracket.

You got me wondering now...Im going to double check this tomorrow with my own eyes. I can say for a fact that when the 700 in my 86 vette was out at the same time the TY was I did see that they were the same. Im going to check it out again.

NO i am talking about the one that holds the cale on the bottom of the tranny. It is the part that gilbert drive line wants us to cut 1/4" off. it bolt to the oil pan with two bolts.

uh... correct me here, but gilbert wants you to cut and weld the piece that scott has pictured above due to the clearance issue.

The bracket that bolts into the pan that I helped install a gilbert shaft into was untouched.

Correct, that is the transmission range select lever that you are looking for.

Ya, I have to dig out that part #.

In Bruce's directions, he says that both brackets need to be modified. But most people only modify that range selector (fig. 2 below), and haven't had any issues.

The other part, as seen in this diagram is only available through VPI. I can get a price for you if you want.

Heres the instructions that come with the Gilbert shaft. The one you need is fig #3.
