Sent my Ty away...

Re: Sent my Ty away...

My Ty is back and... WOW IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!. My wife and I picked it up late Sunday night and we hit the road to get back for work on Monday. We didn't end up getting home till around 4:30 in the morning. The drive home was perfect because no one was on the road so I could really feel the truck out. My wife kept asking if I wanted her to drive but I was having too much fun. I can't believe I have owned this beast for over 2 months and I am now getting to enjoy it. It is a completely different animal from when I sent it to Sportmachines. When I said I sent it for an overhaul, boy was that an understatement!!!

As far as my impressions of Sportmachines, these guys went through everything from bumper to bumper in order to make sure that it would be a reliable daily driver. Even the little things like a piece of cladding that was not secured correctly they addressed. If you ever have a chance to deal with these guys I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. If I had to describe their work in one word it would be "meticulous". These guys are as professional as it gets! They were always accessible and updated me throughout the entire process.

My impression of the BEAST: First of all it feels good to have boost again. Before I sent it up to Sportmachines it wouldn't boost over 5 PSI, the crossover tube had duct tape all over it with a K&N filter clamped to a coffee can ( yes you read that right). The engine would stumble at idle and cut out on occasion.The dyno tune transformed this thing into the beast it is now. Now the idle is ROCK SOLID! Boost comes on strong and holds 15 PSI with ease. They threw even more boost at it and the Ty responded really well but in the interest of protecting my transmission they dialed it back down 15 PSI. In coming months I plan to go with a built tranny. Along with fresh fluids for the engine, transmission and differential they installed a set of Monomax's on all four corners which improved the ride significantly. I stayed away from lowering it for now as I still have to get through the winter. The list of things done is so long and extensive it is too much to list but I believe Sportmachines is going to post a link of the project on their website with some pictures. In the meantime I am going to enjoy driving it every day! I pulled into work on Monday and everyone who knows about these trucks went crazy. A couple of the techs I work with are already asking to run against the Ty but for now i am just going to enjoy it!

:tup::tup::tup:

It makes a big difference when someone that understands these trucks AND cares about them gets to fix them correctly.

Glad to see another happy customer.

Re: Sent my Ty away...

We want to thank Dennis for the opportunity to work on his truck and make things right on it. Dennis is a class act and we are glad to consider him a friend, and another great member of syty community.

We will have more detailed info and pics up of his Ty on our site soon, but here is a quick rundown of what we did. When he brought it to us, it was running and driving ok, but there were a lot of little things that needed to be addressed, along with the normal maitanence items, as Dennis wanted to daily drive his truck.

Most of the list was above. All of the fluids were changed, rear diff, transfer case, transmission, engine. Full tune up, with the correct NGK plugs, AC Delco wires, Full brass cap and rotor. Eng, trans and fuel filters. Silicone vacuum line kit, as his truck had a can of worms kit form the previous owner. New KYB monomax shocks all around. EGR delete. Removed the not properly working electric fans and installed a powdercoated stock clutch fan. Momo Steering wheel. White faced guages. Autometer FP and Boost guages in the pillar. Smooth turbo to IC hose. Hotwired IC pump. Install RPM cold air intake. Set base FP. Set timing to 0. Code 59 Tuned it. And fixed a number of miscellaneous items, replaced broken brackets, missing relays, exhaust clamps, fixed 2 oil leaks, and cleaned up what we could.

I think its safe to say Dennis is please, and we are glad to have another Ty back on the road, running, driving and performing like it should.

Re: Sent my Ty away...

Sportmachines sounds like a creatour of life. They take Sy and Ty and bring them back from the dead. These trucks were years ahead of there time and these guys are turning back the clock and letting owners enjoy these trucks again.
