After owning this for 7 years, I need a new project. Already located the syclone I want, just need to make room in the garage first. Many more pictures available.

For sale is a 1993 GMC TYPHOON.
Truck is in fantastic condition with newer paint job. Just had a recent tune up and runs and shifts strong. Heat and air conditioning work correctly. Vehicle has no engine or transmission modifications, this is a completely stock typhoon with the exception of upgraded billstein SD shocks, and new belltech leaf springs to help level out the truck in the rear. Also have a set of chrome corvette ZR1 wheels/tires that may go with the sale of the vehicle. Current mileage is 68,700 miles.

Looks really good man, unfortunately my wife gave me "one of those looks" when I showed it to her.

Re: selling my ty for a sy

We must have married the same women. My wife told me that I need something to do, BUT something needed to go first. I love a project and my son loves helping me. So this new toy will end up being his one day.

I was thinking about throwing in 4 of the prettiest jack stands you have ever seen, but I will need them again. Lol

Re: selling my ty for a sy

i bought the truck from Pennsylvania and didnt see any rust at the time. i get it home, put it on jack stands(big surprise) to do the common maintenance stuff and do a thorough cleaning and i found the front driver side inner fender well was rusted from the bottom. after further inspection and really good light i could see the front driver side fender was slightly whiter then the rest of the truck. kept digging around and noticed around rear glass had clearcoat chipping off right around the seal. i found that interesting for single stage paint. thats when it began, i pulled both fender wells out, sand blasted and refinished them. the only one with rust was the driver, but i wanted them to match. I then ordered a typhoon driver side fender from a scrapyard in virginia thinking i would paint it match the truck, then i would wet sand the rest and life would be okay. it wasnt, started wet sanding and the clear coat fell off badly. i proceeded to take all cladding off and see how bad things really were. to my surprise, there was no more rust even where the cladding met the body. figuring i was this far into it, the windows all came out, door handles and all the goodies. being ocd, i figured i would do it right, or regret it later. i soda blasted the paint/ clearcoat, and primed the truck with a sealer primer. then i did a guide coat of primer, blocked it, did another really light guide coat and blocked the truck again. finally it was off to the body shop. they did a 3 stage pearl paint with light metal flake. they painted all the cladding first, then the truck. i got the truck back and put everything back together myself wanting it done right(did i mention im ocd). this entire process took me forever, but the end result is very nice. time to fire up the motor, i pulled the plugs and fogged the cylinders for a week straight to get a coating on the cylinder walls. fresh gas, new battery, and it turned right over. ran great for a few weeks then recently started noticing a slight miss that got worse and worse. i did a full tune up, ngk plugs, new wires, conrad cap and rotor, fuel filter and still had the miss. vacuum pump test on the vacuum lines all checked out. finally i pulled the distributor out because it looked a little corroded. bought a new one and installed, truck runs better then ever. been driving it around town lately, but now im bored and my wife says its time to start something else so i can leave her alone. thats my story of 1993 typhoon 0222

Re: selling my ty for a sy

How long ago was the truck painted? Any flaws in the paint? Are the wheels/tires in good condition (stock & ZR1)? When you took the cladding off did you find many broken tabs or cracks?

Wish you weren't so far away. I would like to take a look at the truck.

Re: selling my ty for a sy

The paint looks great. There is no orange peel or fish eye, it's very very shiny. The truck was given back to me from the body shop last holloweenish. Some of the tabs did break off during deconstruction, and the body shop used some type of two part epoxy to put them back on. It was less then 5 tabs that had to be fixed. Also, there is no cracking on the cladding. The stock wheels were in okay condition when I got them. They have a lot of tread on them, they just didn't give me that perfect look. The zr1 wheels have 0 curb rash, and are in great shape. I bought the truck with 60xxx miles on it, and the bought the wheels about 2 years into owning it, so they have very little mileage on the tires. I have many pictures of the truck and will send them if you give me your email.
I have seen to many Sytys with the zr1 wheels. My next truck will have the 18 stock wheels from sport machines. I saw them in new jersey at auto additions show this year and they are amazing.
Thanks again

Re: selling my ty for a sy

one thing,
the truck spent a long time off the road getting a full face lift when i had it. have many pics of truck gutted and stripped down. body was very straight when it was repainted. matching may be tough but i may have left over paint in the garage. it was a three stage paint with gold flake sprinkled in to make it pop. it showed very well!
