As long as you didnt have to tighten the bell housing bolts to get the motor and trans to mate up the tc is seated all the way. Every time Ive goofed and not seated the tc in the pump the tc hits the flex plate well before the trans is flush against the back of the motor.

It can but your gonna have to have enough room to pull the converter out a little and work it around. That's gonna be a PITA under the truck.

"Fully seated torque converter. With a straight edge across the front of the bellhousing, the distance to the mounting pads should be approximately 1 inch."
You could lay the "edge" of a straight edge across the bellhousing to check the distance since you won't have much room. Whatever you do, DON'T crush that pump...

make sure u ckeck it because i thought i had mine seated and it wasnt i used the above pic to help me also

This is basically what I did, I slapped the used converter back on and bolted the bell housing up. I then had to pull the TC 1/4" to 1/2" to bolt it up to the flywheel. Should I double check it or do you think I am all set? This is on my Corvette that I hope to put FS next week. I remembered reading about stab depth and seating the TC but didn't get around to reading up on it until after everything was installed. My experience with transmissions is with removing auto's (in parts cars) and doing clutches in standards.

If you had to pull it forward to meet the flexplate, you're in like Flint.:tup:

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread but any transmissions purchased from me in the future will have the torque converter included. So you purchased a trans, you also have to buy a converter. The converter will be installed on the trans with a brace holding it in place. I just received notification last night of yet another installation error where the converter was NOT seated correctly and the bolts were used to pull the trans up to the engine. This of course damages the pump and/or converter. It's not worth the down time, truck owner aggrivation, and the additional shipping and parts and labor costs incurred. I always tried to give guys their option of getting their own converter because everyone has a favorite converter to use. It's just not worth the problems. Sorry for the intrusion but it seemed appropriate for the thread content.

FYI My TC was fine. I really was should have double check this stuff before installation. I was frustrated one day because I needed the jack (transmission was sitting on) and jack stand that was under my Corvette for my Syclone. So, I just did it.
