scatter shield, etc. to run with transbrake

Trans #3 is toast and I'm tired of building/buying them so I decided to do a full on stage IV transbraked 4L60. Waiting for my new core to show up(3yr/36k mile GM warrenty) to build up on.
Here's what I figured the tranny will need around it, any suggestions appreciated-
poly engine/trans mounts(soon),
engine hold down cable (I've got the best one I've ever seen),
driveshaft loops(front and rear-got 'em),
5k miles on my new front half shafts,
Old 8"x12" 6 row front mount cooler replaced w/ 10"x16" 8 row cooler with pull fan under bed, deleted stock cooler lines now stainless to remote spin on filter, cooler, etc. and
Prolly a Derale deep pan.

Here's the kicker, though- I want to run some kind of flexplate shield b/c of the forces exerted on the transmission but have had no luck finding one for the 700R4/4L60. Summit lists an RCI trans blanket that's SFI 4.1 approved for $80 but I 'd just as soon have metal there- it won't deteriorate. Is there a shield available, or could another tranny's part be close enough to modify and make fit? I've got plenty of trans to floorboard room since my cooler lines go towards the bed and tonight I should finish my braided fuel lines and spin on filter so I can reposition those any way needed too. Is there a beefed up aftermarket case that'd work? See them for others, just not ours. I'm into it for a crazy amount of money(for just a TRUCK PART, good deal if it included a truck) so another case wouldn't be to much if it did the job. I know some of you lurkers out there run the big stuff and race to, what passes tech for you? Any problems?

Oh- you'll love this- STOCK front propshaft. Was rebuilt about 3 years/10k miles ago and still has the dbl. cardan design. I've picked up "the shake" from 65-80mph. With the loops I think I'll run it till it goes, just for giggles. FYI- I've got over 60 timeslips with that shaft and no complaints. I keep it lubed and my motor's twist under launch is minimal, keeping those everything lined up. Can't see getting rid of it, my best 60' is a low 1.7...

No SFI shields. If you modify another you will decertify the original SFI ok. You have to run a blanket and run extra cooling to help disappate heat the blanket keeps in.

Use an SFI flexplate for beginners. You can fortify your floor pan/tunnel but you'll still need the blanket for SFI spec.

Pain in the A**! Never thought the blanket would hold in heat, just didn't think about it. My cooler w/ the deep Derale pan OK for cooling? Rather go too far than not far enough. Competition and waitimes shrink as I move up to quarterfinals, semis and the main. Often there's not even any time to check DM or even look at time slip before staging for the next heat. previous temps during times like this were highest at 185F one night.
Wouldn't be surprised if a decent amount of that was from either the in radiator cooler(not in use anymore) or the long metal lines that pass the turbo and are bolted to the trans, etc. Gonna put the sensor in the filter housing like before, just now more like 2' from the trans on the out line before the cooler. Good place to get an idea of temps?
Brian- good news, looks like Dealer will swap out my trans for a new(though incorrect) unit, simplifying my build up. More to come.Tell me you're going to HAN. Looks like it'll be my grand unveiling.
HR- you name it. between retarded mechanics and incorrect parts I've run the gamut. Every rotating part, 1 case. No TC problems, though.

HAN sounds fun. I might try to make it. Is it in August? :D

I'd put another cooler on to make sure. Or even better, a reservior. Get some extra fluid in there. That's even better than a cooler.

The out line is the best place to pick up your dynamic temperature reading, which is the most important temp.

Yep, get their crap new tranny and start your build with a fresh unit. It doesn't matter at that point you have their inadequate substitute for a real SyTy tranny, but come to think of it, they are inadequate too just not as bad. But inadequate is inadequate.
Did they give you any hassles?
