Sacramento

Finally made it over to Sac. Some folks at Sonoma will tell you that Sac is a bit quicker. Well maybe by a little.

Best ET 11.608
My record is a 11.50? run but this was obviously very close.

Best speed: 119.17 definitely a record for me. I've -never- broke 119 at Sonoma. And it wasn't a fluke. Two others, 119.14 & 119.01

That 11.608 pass had a 1000' time of 9.709 which is also probably a record.

Had good air. Doubtful I'd ever come close to those times in the summer. 100+* outside? fuget it.

Fun

Re: Sacramento

Thanks! I'd like to see a 120mph slip without upping the boost. A better launch and perfect conditions might do it. Next race at Sonoma isn't until later this month so I'll have to wait to see if things have changed at that track.

Re: Sacramento

20# on 91 octane. 20* advance per DM. I tried one "step' more on Eric's chip and started to see some knock. I might try again and see what happens. That's only about 1* so I'll have to see. This motor seems rather sensitive to the amount of advance. I spray quite a bit of meth, IAT's are upper 80's with cool ambient air. Darn thing runs so good I almost hate to fiddle with it...:rotf:

No use breaking 11.50 as that is roll-bar territory.

FYI AFR's are 11.3 It seems to like that as well. I'm not sure what direction richer or leaner would take me.

No racing now until later in Feb so will have to wait until then.

Appreciate the comments.

Just remembered, we're still on "winter" gas. Might be a tad more oomph there. Dunno.

It's just a six

Re: Sacramento

I have not raced as much as you have & my engine is stock, but my engine seems to like about 10.8 AFR when running 91 octane and 100% meth.

Different engine require different AFR's though.

Re: Sacramento

Nice to hear these low ET times DON on which brand tires are you currently running ??

:rotf::rotf: Ha. Tires are Kumho ecsta ast. Nice tires but getting old. Will probably be replaced this spring. Getting close to the wear bars. Just waiting to pull the trigger I guess.

And don't forget folks that this motor has 9.0/1 pistons.

I've tried running upper 10's and it seemed to like things a bit leaner. What would be cool would be a EGT ga. Would have to watch it though, can't log through DM. The new PLX will keep a peak reading though. I run pure methanol also. I can tell you that when the outside air tmps heat up performance drops off considerably. This thing loves two things, cool air and a head wind. I know, sounds screwy but I've seen it to many times. A head wind helps. I think that it's because there is no real cold air intake. The air-cleaner just sites where the bat was.

Nice video Don! I run the same tires, mine have yielded me 1.78 60' on 28PSI. Mine are also on the wear bars, I wore the piss out of them circuit racing. I got my $400 out of them, hard not to replace them with the same. The comp T/A 2's are starting to creep into my budget though
