Re: RPM Front Coilover Set-Up Installed! More Pics!!!!

Thanks. I was going to just take it to the driveline shop near my house, but I'll let you know if I decide to tackle it myself.

Yeah, that looks like the right part.
If you want, I bought the crimping tool & you can do the R&R yourself, but be warned, it's a greasy freakin' mess to do.

The clamp part of the boot sits in a well with a hump on each side of the well. This locates the boot correctly. You could try to move the boot past the hump, inward towards the CV. I didn't try that because I knew it cleared before with the stock boots in the stock location so I figured I'd install the new boot the same way.

I'd go with more caster, like 5 -7 unless you do lots of turns.....

Are those camber and toe specs in degrees?
I hate when they do that. I learned in inches. Typical is 1/16" for toe. Which I've found makes the vehicle a little more twitchy on rain grooves etc. I personally prefer 1/8".
Stay away from shops that say "its in tolerance". They just want your money.

Those are the specs from RPM instructions. Is there a suspension guy in the SF Bay Area that knows how to properly align one of these trucks with coil-overs? And is caster even adjustable and how?

Not in the area but yes caster is adjustable on the trucks.
The upper control arm bolts, if you move the top bolts the opposite direction that will change caster. When you move both upper control arms bolts the same direction that changes camber.

It took me over 3 hrs to align my dads ty yrs ago when we did the coilovers. I hate alignments but his truck drives super nice I am actually surprised at how well it drives ;)

Once the sy is driveable I am going to have my buddy do that one as I haven't done an alignment in over a yr and hate them!

Good luck, I bet your truck will drive completely different once you put it on an actual alignment machine.

So I loosened up the upper and lower coilover mounting bolts slightly on both sides and also took out a decent amount of preload on the springs (both sides). The damping adjusters are at 6 clicks from full counterclockwise. The bottom center edge of the cladding on both sides of the truck is ~27" from the ground. I also tightened up the allen nut on the ZQ8 steering gear slightly as there was a little slop. Filled it up with $90 of 100 octane this afternoon and drove it around pretty hard. This thing flies, I love the way it sounds with the QTP exhaust cutout opened :) Still need to get a computerized alignment, but at least I got the springs and damping adjustments where I want them.
