RPM Dual Sync Dist:

I was looking through rpm's new website and came across a dual sync dist that he is selling. Does anyone know if this would work with the ls1 coild and the edist box? I have all the parts to use the coils except the crank trigger because I can't fit it with my current front accy drive setup.

Just wondering if this is a brand new item and if anyone has tried it yet.

If you see this post Mike from Rpm please reply, I will also be calling you on monday to order a couple parts.

Thanks

Re: RPM Dual Sync Dist:

Well I talked to Mike Lee about it and he said it is designed to be run with the accel fuel injection so my guess is that its the accel distributor hes selling.
He would not be able to offer any wiring or anything because it wouldnt be being used for the intended purpose.
He did say that he is planning on coming out with his own crank trigger setup which may be helpful. I had a crank trigger but with my new serp belt setup I can't run it anymore but his is a different design that may possibly work.
He said he plans on having it ready in a month or so.

Thats all the news I have for now, my truck is far from complete so if anyone wants to be the guniea pig and test it out first that would be great for me

Re: RPM Dual Sync Dist:

The distributor is the Accel dual sync. Only problem with using it for an application not running the Accel Gen VII is you don't get any support. DFI tech isn't going to spend the time helping you diagnois a problem using another computer system, since the distributor is primarily designed to be used in conjuction with their engine management. I have only used it on the Accel systems, so i wouldn't be of much help either.

But yes, we are in the process of finishing up our crank trigger kit. I'll try and post some pics of the prototype soon.. We have had to re-design the pickup, trigger mount, magnet position, etc to work with the exhaust crossover pipe and proper phasing angle for appropriate timing levels.

I've tried this. It would have worked out fine (eDist will support it), but my dual sync was damaged in transit somehow

still have it I can fix it, the Dual sync can be used with many systems as it is a Hall effect type signal, im even hearing rumors of people using the MSD box to run the spark on the LS! coils

Re: RPM Dual Sync Dist:

Well I have an edist box so I could buy this dist and get it to work this way?

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams for this or how to hook it up?

Thanks

nope, returned under warranty. I have an MSD cam sync now, instead, which may be going in shortly

Re: RPM Dual Sync Dist:

did anyone ever try this dual sync and eDist and possibly have a wiring diagram? I have the eDist and would much rather use the dual sync over the optical pick-up in the stock distributor.

Re: RPM Dual Sync Dist:

I was told by MSD that they saw no reason that the Accel dual sync wouldn't work to signal the eDist. I later decided to go with a BigStuff3 LS1 version with MSD coils, GM RV distributor and a crank trigger. I still have the new Accel dual sync and RPM crank trigger, they are both for sale in the classifieds :)

So if I read everything right I can use the dual-sync w/o a crank trigger?

Re: RPM Dual Sync Dist:

That's what I had planned to do, use both the crank and cam sensor from the dual sync to trigger the eDist. Which is basically what the DFI GenVII does, but with that setup it's plug and play with the optional harness. I had planned to use the harness and just wire it into the eDist.
