I was trying to see if anyone can give me some info on the the Spherical Bearings in tlhe qa-1 shocks they sell with the rpm coilover kit. Basicslly Im trying to replace the bushing in each eyelet of the shock I went to order some new ones and im trying to figure out the part #. I was on qa-1 website and they say they have them in metic and sae and im not sure which one is for thr shocks on the coilover kit.

Also as far as balljoints are they just a stock style syclone ball joints? What balljointa are most running? I can probably get some moog ones pretty easy.

thanks for any help you can give.

Re: RPM Coilover help

i got the spherical bushings from mike at rpm - have the first generation shocks with the plastic bushing wich doesn´t last very long - i thing they upgraded to metal bushings by now.
the ball joints are the same as stock - moog should be fine

Yeah mine are def the plastic bushing. We can upgrade to the metal one? Any idea what the part # is for them?

Mine are toast also. This was on my list of things to find. Any help would be great. I have the new style rubber ones with C clips.

Re: RPM Coilover help

mine are held in with a snap ring and i pulled one out and they seem like a very hard plastic not a rubber but i could be wrong. Every single one of mine seem to have tons of slop in them and seem to need replacing. The coilove kit has less then 2000 miles on it

Same here. I have the hard plastic ones with snap rings and one of them fell apart. I need to get in there and fix it but I haven't purchased updated bushings yet. Mike did get me some new spacers for the shock mount though because one of the original spacers crumbled. The new spacers look like they are much nicer than what I originally had. I have about 5,000 miles on the suspension so I'm a little surprised the QA1s are having these issues. .

My bad, I meant snap rings not c clips. I think mine only lasted about 8k miles. Except for the power slides at NATS I was real good to my truck.

Re: RPM Coilover help

it is pretty funny, this issue has been addresses already and resolved by turbotime.. wonder why rpm hasn't done the same.

Re: RPM Coilover help

Below is a response to this thread from Dave @ Qa1.

"If they want to run the bearings the part number is COM8T-102PK. These will have a 1/2" bore. The only issue is that they are not as quiet as the poly bushings because now they will have a metal mount.

I'm suprised to see that people are having issues with the poly bushings with that low of miles. I wonder if they are using the steel sleeves that help distribute the load across the bushing.

If they have questions just have them call 952-985-5675."

Re: RPM Coilover help

mybe turbotime is willing to organize some sort of group buy for his solution - the spring relocation kit and new metal bushings should solve the problem period.

Re: RPM Coilover help

Is it the placement of the springs that wear the bushings out? And I know I have the metal sleeves in mine. The bushings just look like they blow out. I have one that completely blew out and the other three have so much play if u turn the shock in ur hand upside down the sleeve will move in the bushing.

Can we use the bushing ur friend from qa-1 is listing if we already have the metal sleeve?

Re: RPM Coilover help

i think spring placement might be an issue on some applications - there seems to be some axial force on the bushings when the strut goes through it´s range of motion, pushing the spherical bearing out sideways. i´m not even shure if my shocks might be beyond rescue, since the grove where the snap ring sits is also damaged already.

how does the metal sleeve look like - i´m not shure if i even got one

the metal bushings look like the rubber bushings, they are just all metal..

i didn't notice a difference in ride.. however i did notice that my springs stopped clunking around (due to the rubber/poly bushings getting worn/stretched out)

like i said, turbotime has resolved this as an issue.

Shame rpm hasn't done the same

I would think so, best thing you could do is call him. He works there in customer service and technical assistance.

But I have not have not had this issue personally and I have 15k plus on my coil overs.
