RPM Bolt on Stage 1 Garret Turbo...any experiences?

This appeals to me for a number of reasons!

1. Stock appearing, and you use the stock down pipe. Polished and option of ceramic coat!
2. Use stock converter.
3. Decent priced.

Are there any other turbos that compare to this one for just a stock upgrade? Anyone had experience with this particular turbo? Do you like it? Noticeable difference in spool up and performance? Is it louder? Does it have a nice whistle to it?

Any other vendors offer something similar?

I have it and am happy with it over stock.. only issues with it was install. Pics 1, 2, 3Didn't line up correctly which cost me. Spool is as quick or quicker then stock, whistle isn't as loud as I had my stocker singing but loud enough. Wastegate is allot louder however which tends to scare people. I'd say I noticed an improvement on the top end more then anything which I feel the stocker fell flate on which is why I bought the turbo.

Another option which allot of people on here have used as well is a turbo from Waller which looks completely stock. here's his thread http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=32367

Well the wastegate isn't an issue, as I have an external gate. Are the aligment and installation issues taken care of? What went wrong?

I have had one since day 1 and can say if done properly isnt that hard at all. Theres some clearance isssues with bolts so you need to fasten the entire thing in a certian order to make it possible. The DP was taken off of mine, along with the fenders out. I remember the coolant lines to be really simple to deal with and again the lines for the oil (if done properly) wont take long at all. Theres a few different sizes you need and you are using both hands while under the truck which is a pain but overall it went relitavely well. Reassembly of the DP is easy if your clamps arent frozen or welded, its easily pushed back and forth a few inches (lots of play) Everything has to be done by hand and a lot of it you need shortened tools or slim wrenches which you may or may not have available (hit the grinder with a craftsman or something), its all doable, dont be scurred :p

I had the stage one for a while and now have the stage 2. Prety easy install. what the other guys said is true. better then stock. looks nice too. I had the housing coated to for the non-rust look.

Never Satisfied

Just got done with the stage 3 install. Take the inner fender out and it's not that hard.
