Well I almost had my Ty. There was a Royal Blue Ty for sale in AZ. I called the guy last night asked a bunch of questions. 55k orig miles. factory paint. He said " a guy from Reno is supposed to stop by & look at it tomorrow. I called him today told him I would give asking price if he drove it from AZ to Vegas. He said " Funny you should call. the guy from Reno is here and it looks like hes loading it on the trailer. I said dont do it its gonna be put in a garage and never drivin.

Lame lame lame

Well I guess I have to keep looking.

Re: Royal Blue slipped through my fingers

I feel your pain. I was #2 on a Blue about five years ago (coincidentally also out of Arizona). The good news is it went to a board member (keller) who later helped me buy my first truck (neither of us knowing we were once after the same truck). Read the complete story here, plus more about the truck you lost:

Re: Royal Blue slipped through my fingers

that truck wasnt as flawless as it seemed. a board member went and looked at it and gave me some feedback... it needed some TLC, mainly ripping off and repairing the hackjob bodywork on the wing that was put on and dealing with some rust. it was priced at 18k for the longest time.

Edit... this is why its a good idea to keep PMs and why syty.net f*cking rules. This is from the board member who went and saw it in person. Name withheld unless he wants to say...

I went and looked at a few up in Phx yesterday. First of all, the blue one is not all its cracked up to be. I was prepared to pay too much for it, but when I saw it I was pretty disappointed. I didn't really bother taking pics, because I was quite upset. The truck grew up in IL and the current owner bought it there and brought it with him when he moved. Long story short, the fenders were rotted out in the upper wheel well. This could be felt underneath and seen through the paint. The doors were rotted underneath, the tailgate was junk and left rear corner cladding was cracked along with the bumper. Due to the custom wing being cracked, moisture got in and there's now cancer on the upper rear corner. There was a remote start alarm on it, and the previous owner removed it and IMO was kind of destructive. It had custom lower pieces on the door panels with speakers. The owner assured me that was stock. Stock infinity speakers? I don't think so. The AC didn't work and the dude had no idea as to why or what that meant $$$ wise. Also there was this funny plastic box mounted in front of the radiator with wires coming out of it. I have no idea what it was, but it was probably alarm related.

As far as the suspension, they're just Rancho air shocks, but it did ride well and sit nice. The interior was in pretty good shape, but again, you could tell there was a monster stereo in there. The owner was a cool guy, but I don't think he knew what he had, and not in a good way. I could tell it had been repainted on the passenger's side due to a little blue being on the cladding and overspray on the bolts. He said it hadn't been repainted as far as he knew. He had no idea as to the amount of rust and the condition of his vehicle. He thought it was fairly perfect and therefore he felt it should command a premium price. So...I moved on. I took it two ways. Either this guy was playing dumb and hoping that I wouldn't notice these things, and he could pass it off as a perfect truck. Or he just was ignorant. IDK.

It drove like a low milage truck, but I've driven stock 150K mile trucks that run stronger. The turbo spooled well and it had no issues buiding boost, but IMO it needed too much work. Here in a AZ nothing rusts. It was more worth it for me to get a higher mileage AZ truck that has no rust. I'm not a body guy but if I was, I would've considered it. But not for that price. I guess the thing that chapped my ass was the fact that I talked to this guy on the phone about rust and cladding and he told he it was in great shape. And I drove 120miles to see the opposite. :(

I quized him about market value and if he knew what others are going for and he thinks these trucks still go for 20-30K. I said sure if they're in show condition and LOW mileage. He was blabbing about this possibly being a Barrett-Jackson with new paint, blah blah blah.

All in all I'm not saying this truck is crap, but its a project truck with respects to the body. Plain and simple.

youguys think it was the same one? It had air shocks & big intercooler. But he said it was never raced. that seemed odd why does it have a big intercooler if it was never raced. It makes me feel a little better. He said there are only 12 blue any truth to that?

yes it was the same one, ive had my eye on that truck for awhile.... BS it was never raced...you dont install a bigger IC without the need to go fast and BS on the 12 made.... there are more than that. I would have held on to my ex royal if only 12 existed.

Re: Royal Blue slipped through my fingers

Well theres another one Red / Grey with 78k. that is next on my list. The guy seems really anal. So I guess its going to be a red one for me. Ive already have a 07 set of vette wheels for my Ty whenever I get her. Also on craigslist in vegas theres a royal FS but the friggin # is bogus. what are the odds 2 royals FS in 1 week?

Re: Royal Blue slipped through my fingers

plenty reliable if you treat them right

you sure about that truck in your sig? Dodge doesn't make a mega cab long bed. To my understanding the mega cab is an extended cab on a long wheelbase truck.

most are junk but they are fun while they last

royal and the other blue are the best colors none are worth any more then another but get what you like for sure. painting the entire truck would suck

Can I post pics?
Yeah but they need to ne hosted somewhere like photobucket.

Tell us more about the turbo bug. I've seen them run 9's.
The red one in AZ? If so I saw it has red (wrong) door decals. Post up the VIN maybe someone here knows the truck.

IMO look for a truck with no rack. They leak and are a PITA to wax around.
