Ripped boot on my front driveshaft =(

Alright guys, here's the deal. I've been reading up on getting the boot replaced and it sounds like it's a bad idea, I might as well just replace the whole driveshaft. I'm okay with that but I'm not sure who to go with. Dynotech has a split spline style shaft that will replace my factory one and it doesn't use a boot. I really like the sound of that but I was wondering if there are any downsides to this style of shaft. Who else can I go with as a replacement and will any shaft that I buy come with a boot as well? Last thing is, what exactly is a boot and what does it look like? GMC tells me it's ripped and slinging grease but I don't even know what to look for.

Austin huh? well there are a few members of this community in your area. if the only problem with the propshaft is the boot, i would replace just that. however, if you have high hp goals, and money is not a problem, then get a dynotech from al dustan. awesome power handling. easy to install from what i read. do your research first..many topics on this.
good luck.
also, let me invite you to:

I am certainly interested in meeting up with other Typhoon owners. I need to get mine working though =(. I've got a vacuum leak and piston blowby. I'm currently looking at rebuilding the engine and dropping much better parts in to it. I need to find some people with some knowledge on that kind of stuff and maybe some recommendations on where I can take my Typhoon to get the engine rebuilt. Money isn't too big of an issue, I just want to get it back on the road.

magic words: "Money isn't too big of an issue"
talk to Jerry McCoy at tobefast.com for a basic buildup, he will work with you one some parts that you might prefer (willing to dish out extra money for)

or Mike Lee at ARAutosports.com
he has some engines aswell. his is a very busy man, reason...because he gets the job done right, thus having a line of customers to follow.

your best bet is to go with someone that knows how to build a SYTY motor, not just a reg. 4.3.

same with the Trans...a local shop could probably do a good job, but put 20 5-9psi launches and you will be taking it back. for most tranny places upgrades on the tranny are what come stock in ours...(corvette parts), but we require more.

for tranny's John Walller, Mike Lee, and Brian Hartman are great at it.

once again..what are your goals?
