As stupid as it sounds... for a song you could have a multi-year project. If you got it for the scrap price you'd be into it for a minimal outlay. It's not like it's a charred hulking smashed up wreck.

Not sure if its possible but for one of the big regional or national gatherings coordinate a way for folks to signup to bring parts/labor and then rebuild it. Donate it to charity and write off all the parts/time and such for business owners. Would be kinda fun given some time. Just one of those trucks that has (what looks to be) a solid core to build on.

Edit: Mecum and I am sure other auctions will sell on behalf of a charity. Could be a way to get national attention to a project maybe kick start some momentum to recognizing these trucks (pros and cons there)

any other VIN plate on that body shell is a felony possession of the VIN rivets is a felony moving a VIN is a felony

Who said I was insisting on changing the plates, swap the cab, or even if you drill the rivets out and switch them, what is the difference, yea technically its illegal unless you go through in my case the transportation cabinet at Frankfort, KY and tell them what you are doing and send them both titles and such and go through a bunch of paper work and then it is considered legal as far as I know, but if not It would be no different than swapping the drivetrain into a 4X4 s10 just easier unless you steal it I see nothing wrong with it, If I went and bought the truck and brought it home and swapped it all into my truck whats the difference you just saved time and money. Technically owning the correct rivets isn't illegal you can buy them all over the internet, its just what you do with them that is illegal. Say I wanna paint behind my vin on my 68 cause its rusty I pop the rivets paint and pop it back in, not illegal. Thats just my opinion i'm not trying to be a wise ass or nothing, just saying whats the hurt in making a syclone clone out of a s10 for a lot less $.

Shit, I wish that was closer and wasn't in the middle of a non-automotive project. Screams "racecar" to me!
