ride height need measurement

I need measurements from the ground to the frame where the front bumper and rear bumper mount on a syclone with a 2 inch rear drop and the front lowered to match so that we can get the rear suspension welded in, basically measure from the ground to the bottom of the frame

Dont mean to hijack, my Ty is at stock height anyways.... but do you have any pics of the setup? I love fabrication.

Re: ride height need measurement

Are you sure you only want 2" drop measurements? The below pic is with 3" bell tech springs only and looks way too high to me. I'll take a pic tomorrow of the truck with the springs + a 3/4" block (yes, 3/4"...I made my own) so you can see if you like the look a little lower than 2". I bet you do ;) .

thats seems real high? Hmm im basically looking for a frame measurement of a truck with 2 inches or less between the cladding and wheels

I tried to take a pic tonight but I didnt have enough light (my camera sucks without any sun) but lemme take one tomorrow and you can look it over and see how you like it. At the very least I can take some measurments of it to give you a reference point.

i have 2 in blocks on my truck, i can measure tonight for you, i have most of the cladding off the truck so it is a little light, if you like i will still take the measurements for you tho.

Re: ride height need measurement

Do you want the measurements from the ground to include the height of the trailer?

LOL.

Re: ride height need measurement

Here ya go.... Two inches from top of tire to bottom of cladding in the front and three inches in the rear. Details myclone style at the end ;)

Front: I took the measurement from the top of the tire using a straight edge laid across the tire since it was a PIA to get an accurate measurement from the side wall so depending on your tire diameter your measurements may vary. I have a coil over set up in the front so I adjusted it until it "looked right" and I really didnt pay any attention to what the height was before installing the suspension so I dont have any numbers to throw at you and say "I lowered it X amount".

Rear: Ditto on laying a straight edge across the top of the tire to get the measurement here too. Installing 1" blocks along with the 3" belltech leaves almost leveled the truck according to a measuring tape (you couldnt tell by eye) and I like a little rake so I fabbed up some lowering blocks and whittled them down on the milling machine until they were at .795" rather than 1.00" (IIRC). Be aware that if youre using the stock shock configuration in the rear that going much lower without using blocks or relocating the shock mounts puts the shock at the very last 1/4 of its travel. Not a huge deal IMO but if I went lower without shorter shocks or relocating the mounts I would have lost ~90% of the travel on compression. As it stands now I actually flipped the upper shock cross bar so that its bolted on from above the frame rather than below...not much to be gained there as far as travel but every little bit helped IMO.

FWIW. Ken at times I believe you and I have similar thought processes on some things automotive so I will say this....I personally wouldnt go much, if any, lower than this on something that I would want to drive anywhere. As it stands there is maybe 2" between the IC scoop up front and the road surface so even a piss ant that raises his head up at the wrong moment is gonna take the scoop off not to mention road kill, errant semi truck recaps, or just about any other road debri.

:2cents: FWIW

Front is 11 3/16" from the floor to the bottom of the frame where the bumper bracket bolts on (where the factory put tow hooks on stock S10).

This is the drivers side front. Youll note that the bottom of the frame on our trucks has an upward slope to it and with the IC, core support mount, etc in the way its tough to get an accurate measurement here. However, what I did was lay the machined edge of the sliding portion of the square Im using flat against the bottom of the frame to get the measurment to the floor. What the above mentioned upward slope in the frame does is prevent the square from being at a 90* angle when taking the measurement so if you do your measurements at 90* and ignore the upward slope the measurement will put your frame higher. Make sense?

Rear is 18 5/8" from the floor to the bottom of the frame at the bumper support mounting bolt closest to the spring shackle/eye.

This one is a no brainer since there isnt a bunch of crap in the way... From the floor to the top of the alum angle/bottom of the frame is where I took the measurement.
