Replace Leaking Oil Lines

I have been using the search button but still not positive on what parts I need. The turbo's oil feel line is leaking from the orange tube. Instead of replacing it with the same part, I am thinking about using AN fittings and braided line and I might as well change the return while i'm at it. I just don't know what size fittings and type of lines to get. Can someone let me know exactly what I need to get this job done. I order from summit, so if you know their part numbers that would help a lot.

i would bet rpm or or one of the other vendors should be able to hook you up

The orange tube you're referring to is the return line. To keep it simple, you can cut the metal clamps off & use some regular hose clamps to get it to seal again. Or you could replace the hose with your choice of hose & use the hose clamps.

You can also replace it with a full -AN arrangement, but the nipple that is on the 90 deg. pan adapter can be a real PITA to get off especially with the motor still in the truck.

X2 The easiest for me was to remove the right (pas) wheel well and remove the drain from the turbo so you can get the orange hose off. It's prolly leaking there a bit as well anyway so you can fix them both at the same time. Replace hose, use screw clams, replace gasket (I made mine but they're out there if you want to look) and yur good to go. Careful; turbo oil drain and water line are close and you don't want them rubbing.

The best, of course is to go the AN route and gain the flexibility. If you go that way remember that you won't "loose" anything in the pan. That fitting screws into a nut on the inside that's welded in place.

Mine was all gunked up and the rubber pinched like someone overtightened the clamp (maybe in an effort to stop a leak). I replaced it with silicone oil drain hose from www.atpturbo.com. You might be able to get the stuff at a hydraulic hose shop, I'm not sure.

ahh you can just use oil safe hose to replace or extend it. i sees, i was wondering about that myself, i take it that will work for the water line too then?

Yes, just buy the "correct" hose for each. The lining needs to be correct for the intended use. Any decent auto parts store should be able to sell it in the length you want.
