remote(s) fob intermittently inoperable

When it stops working, none of the functions of either remote work. Tried searching, seems to be daves deleted posts.

Batterys are good.
Remotes seem to be good, because when this problem occurs, neither work. Any other time, both work.

Fairly frequent problem. One out of four attempts ends in failure.

Get into your truck, hold unlock and lock to see if the remotes will retrain, if it does move onto the next remote and repeat.

Sounds like your receiver might be the cause of these try to replace it might do the trick

Its a constant issue because I don't have a key for rear hatch, and the glass does not just pop open. You have to push in glass while pressing the button...and with 2 people someone can press inside button, but when I'm bymyself, trying to load something in the back, remote is my only option

Had the same issue ended up being the hatch lock and the alarm receiver

yea hatch lock is sometimes troublesome, but the remote is the biggest prob...

I had the same issue with the fob working intermittently, and now it doesn't work at all.

not to hijack the thread, but is the keyless receiver tied into the same relay as the "rear window" switch in the dash? Because that doesn't work now either. When I push the button in the dash nothing happens, but I can hear the relay by the fuse block clicking. Just wondering if it's all tied together, could possibly be related to the same issue you're having?

You could be on to something, cause as often as the fob does not work, that button does not work

I just pulled the relay out and it says "TRW" on it, which is the same company that makes the keyless system. So it's very likely that this is the problem. I'll pick up a new relay tomorrow on my way home from work and see what happens. Hopefully this is it.

just went by the dealer on my lunch break and the relay is NLA. The parts guy said it's a 30a relay and that radio shack should have something that will work. So I'll swing by there on my way home. Might have to wire up something from the harness to the relay since I can't seem to find any relays online with the same pin layout.

also remembered, if the truck is running, this problems seems to never occur using either remote

haha I concur! Not a fan of that reflective glass they used on these trucks back then.

hmm... mine doesn't work at all with the car on or off. So maybe we're not having the same problem?

Also went by Radio Shack, O'Reilly's, and Pep Boys... no matching relays. They had some that were close, but nothing exact... I'll try calling TRW tomorrow and see what they have to say. Worst case, I'll buy a turn signal relay and see if I can get that to work.

im an electrician, i have relays, but they would look awfully funny on the truck, guess if it was hidden under the dash...

got the correct relay in the mail today and same thing... click click click from the relay and nothing else happens. I'll have to pull the cover off the tailgate this weekend and check the actuator to see if it's even working. It's gotta be that or some other electrical problem that I don't want to mess with. If that's the case, I have my buddy installing my alarm for me if and whenever he has time... I'll make it his problem haha

I just know that I'm incredibly lazy and sick of using a key to open the door and the back hatch.

I just replaced the keyless entry module and now I have full functions. Very limited range, like 20 feet from the truck but I chock that up to 1993 technology.

I don't know if this has anything to do with what you guys are dealing with but I have noticed that sometimes my back glass won't pop without the truck running. I hear the clicking in the end gate but I guess not enough juice to open it sometimes? I figure it is just because all of our trucks are garbage! haha.
