Relay box above the turbo?

Well, I've been having minor boost issues for the last few days. I've only been able to build 10-12psi, but that's according to the stock guage... so I might be fine, I'm not getting noticable performance issues, just a perfectionist.

Anyway, I noticed a small black relay box above the turbo, with an "L" boot fitting on each end. What is this? I noticed that the outer side was very loose, I reconnected it and tightened it down, but haven't driven the truck yet to see what(if anything) it did.

Would like to know what I'm fooling with before I go at it any further.

sounds like you're talking about the boost control solenoid. If the connections to that are leaking air, you'd have some pretty crappy boost control.

That probably explains why I haven't been getting full boost.

Does that go ka-put if there is a leak? I'll be fixing it up today(if I get off work early enough), and see how it goes. Hope that's all it is.

they'll fry themselves over time. Its one of the cheaper things to replace on the truck - something like $18 from GM dealership

I can order those parts 20 bucks I put a new one on and got smooth consistent boost also check lines for leaks........................

I'm going to make sure everything is in right before I replace anything. I'll be reconnecting and cleaning up the fittings, make sure it's tight... I just really just crammed it in tighter last night. I'm also going to make another check on my vac lines again, something might have come loose there as well, been having misc. troubles with vac leaks, I don't think I'm getting them tight enough on the hard to reach connections. Might have to replace a couple more lines, they look okay, but I didn't put them in, so who knows.

careful w/ that little solenoid, its very easy to snap off the plastic nipples that you attach the vacuum lines to.
