Regarding IA Temps

SO i was reading http://powertuneplus.com/syclone/tunersguide_dm.shtm

and down the page saw that...
"
Notice: typical IA Temp readings are between 30*F-170*F depending heavily on whether the truck has stock EGR (which causes very hot manifolds), or if it has alcohol injection (which dramatically lowers IA Temps). I believe this is just the temperature reading of the manifold metal itself."

so my question is do you think its safe to say that if im running 160's-170's after warm up and some short WOT that i prolly dont have any air pockets in my IC system after i did my flush?
i can see it pumping in the upper charger,

Re: Regarding IA Temps

I dont now what your ambient temps are in NM, but here in the WA desert with temps near 100 and egr disabled I only see 120ish IA's. With egr I was seeing 150ish temps with egr active and 120-130 when it wasnt operating. 160-70 all the time seems too high.

Re: Regarding IA Temps

I think when your IAT is that high its just as hot as the engine coolant and cant be good.
What ive seen its all in the region of 130 degrees, only in heavy duty use you will get 170 degrees
The lower the IAT, less knock you get,
Hotter air is more knock and can be fattal for your engine!!!!

Thats why the W/A CAC I've got is upgraded to a ATR type with the big bar/plate heatexchanger
Thats whats dropping the IAT

thats another thing, i still have my EGR, i do have the EGR delete plate and i think that could help me, ( so i need to read on changing the EGR out etc.. but living in the desert at 5200ft up doesnt help either, i didnt think my knock was to high,. im loading the file again its below if anyone wants to take a look at it..

Dutchty, i understand for sure it would help, but it was a little more then i wanted to spend right now and wanted to try and make the stock system work till i fixed my other issues and since my truck is for the most part stock. i do plan to do that but i have been spending $$ like nuts need to pace my self lol
