Rebuild alky pump?

Stab it and steer it
I have an older version of Julo's Alkycontrol system. The pump will overheat and quit. I've actually had the pump section apart in the past without problems. (IOW it worked when I got done:rotf:) I've emailed Alkycontrol but wondering if anyone has attempted to rebuild their own pump.

Thanks.

Re: Rebuild alky pump?

which is bad, the pump head or the motor? its a modified $90 pump from northern tool, so swapping your pump head onto a new pump motor would probably be easiest if its the motor thats going bad

Re: Rebuild alky pump?

I've had the pump end apart 2-3 times. First time I found it full of crud from ?? Except that first time it's always "looked" fine and been clean. It's an older model pump so this time I just shipped it off to Julio for rebuild. Presuemably it will be good-as-new. The pump is the heart of the system and it needs to work every time. What's still to be decided is do I reposition it or build a full heat shield.

Methanol is very corrosive and hygroscopic so it collects water pretty quick then the water grows algae. It's common for race cars that run solely on methanol to 'rinse' the system with gasoline after a day of racing
