Rear sway bar on Syclone

I just finished putting an OEM sway bar from a 96 4-door Blazer on my Sy tonight. What a piece of cake! Why I waited so long to do this is a mystery.

Thanks to those who posted on this topic previously, especially Canadian. His post from 6/04 really helped me a lot in this.

I bought the mounts off Ebay for like $54 shipped and they fit really well once I figured out how to drill the mounting holes for them. Hats off to the guy who provides these.

The best part was going to the pick n pull today and getting the sway bar. I was expecting it to cost $50-$60 like they do when they pop up online, but the $9 I was charged really made my day!!

The only thing I ran into that I didn't see mentioned in any of the old posts I dug through was what to do with the ABS wires and the brake lines that are attached to the axle. They are right in the way of where the U bolt mounts go. I ended up just undoing the clips on the axle and bending them out of the way to make clearance. Is this how the rest of you have done this?

If anyone with a Sy needs a sway bar, I highly recommend going this route.

Also if anyone in the Northern Idaho/Eastern Washington area knows of a need for a rear sway bar, Spaldings Pull and Save has 6 Blazers in the yard. 5 now still have the sway bar and 4 are really easy to get to. The last one is sitting low in the rear and tough to get under.

Re: Rear sway bar on Syclone

I had to remove the brake lines from the clips to install mine. Was just looking at this the other day. I'm putting a new cover on the rear axle, looks like it might be a close fit with the bar. Post pics of how yours looks.

I managed to get all the stuff in one go and installing the upper brackets into the shock pocket was a pain in the ass. It would have been much easier with the bed removed.

It's actually here:

If anyone wants one of these bars, I can go pull them and ship them out. They only take about 15 minutes to pull off.

I don't have another day off until next Wednesday, but I'd be happy to go pull a couple more if there is a need.

http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19559 is the original thread about it. I did a fair amount of research on it, as I was pretty interested in it and it didn't seem like many others were (I think most already had aftermarket swaybars). I picked up a bar at the local yard years ago, planning to buy all the related hardware new. I never got around to it, and now found that they discontinued the brackets. s10warehouse is the seller of the new brackets.
