You need a one piece rear main seal and housing assembly, GM part number 14088556. It is quite a job for a home mechanic with the engine in the car. I put a new rear main seal assembly in my engine when the engine was out of the vehicle during a complete engine rebuild.
Check all oil pan gaskets for leaks before replacing the rear main seal. Replacing a one piece rear seal and housing assembly is an 8 hour job for someone who has done it before.
FelPro BS40520
autozone has this one listed n another felpro kit that looks identical but diff number... i would hate to order the wrong kit... thanx again guys for ur help...
pull and replace. simple. just be glad its not a 2 piece seal. youd be in for a real treat!
I am curious, why did the seal fail? Are you sure just replacing the seal will cure the problem? If the motor has a lot of miles on it, wouldn't a rebuild be due?
take that thing apart clean it get ur self a new oring kit im sure someone on here knows the part numbers to help with that end
