rear driveshaft (?)

when i bought my ty it always had a slight vibration. never bothered to check from where 'cause it wasn't that bad. had the truck up on the lift the other day>in drive and the driveshaft had a slight wobble to it. u-joints are good with no play in them.

from what non syty vehicle is a direct swap. i will take it to the drivetrain shop to have it rebalanced w/new u-joints. TIA.

If the u-joints are good keep the whole thing IF the shop will straighten and balance the shaft. The stock joints are stronger than most replacements unless he has experience with race shafts.

I work at a driveshaft shop in florida. I removed my rear to inspect it and there is nothing special about the joints or shaft. I don't usally "straighten" shafts, i just re-tube them using the original yokes. We generaly use Spicer (dana) componets on rebuilds and their joints have held up flawlessly in my 500hp truck. they do have a 3r saginaw series witch will handle 700+ hp.

i wasn't aware that the shops could straighten or repair them. i thought it would be easier and or cheaper to replace it with a used one. almost afraid to ask how much it would be. if it is too much then i guess i will hunt for a aluminum driveshaft. thanks for the info guys. big help!

Re-tubing works great. I guess what we're saying is to avoid used. You can end up with worse that what you started with.
